I have driven past this place for a few years and was always quite intrigued as you couldn't look into the restaurant and it gave me the impression that it was cosy and charming inside (not the ultra modern type).

So when I got a chance to try it for a work function, I was pretty excited. The ambiance was as I had expected, a little bit old-fashioned but in a nice cosy way (don't get me wrong, it isn't shabby or had flowered upholstery). We ordered entree of shared platter (feta cheese, 4 types of cold cuts, and some pickled eggplant and sun dried tomatoes with some bread), garlic prawns, fried calamari, garlic bread, oyster kilpatrick and fried camembert. It was delicious and the portions were generous.

For the mains, I had the fish of the day which was pan-fried red spot emperor (you can choose to have it grilled if you want) with lemon butter sauce and served with a side of chips or mash with salad. The dish was amazing - fish tasty and perfectly cooked, the mash was sensational and not your run-of-the-mill slop you get and salad was dressed in a sweet balsamic dressing. My dining mates ordered Saltimbocca, Gnocchi, Steak, Scallopini and everyone gave thumbs up. Portions were generous.

I had the creme caramel for dessert and it was perfect to round off a nice meal.

Price-wise, this is not your cheap and cheerful place (mains were around $40) but very nice indeed.

Approximate cost: $40

What ca i say, the starter of Pan seared Prawns on Semi Sundried Tomato Puree & Scallops on Onion Confit topped with Avruga Caviar Lemon Butter is a memorable one. Freshly juicy prawns with semi-sweet puree work perfectly together, with the caviar adding a touch of class.
Some of the items were on the expensive end though, so be in a generous mood

You could walk straight past this restaurant which has a very modest front. Once you enter, you feel as though you are entering into an Italian family home. The decor is charming traditional with a very intimate atmosphere. The food we had was amazing with very large serves. I would recommend sharing the dessert with your partner or friend as the servings are very generous. I had the gnocchi and my friend had the chicken breast and both had a great home cooked feel to them, full of flavour. Highly recommend the stick date pudding! The service was also very good.

Approximate cost: $25-35
