Rice dishes are so filling and fresh, love the chicken spicy and the portion sizes left me completely full. So well priced too.

Elizabeth Street is Brisbane's little Korea. Madtongsan is one of the legendary places here. The best options are the Bibimbap (fixed rice dishes). You are served a bowl of rice and other ingredients and you mix them together. Some come in hot stone pots with raw meat, which you mix and cook).

I don't get to go here as often as I would like as Friday nights and weekends it is full of students eating their favourite Korean dishes.

Loved Madtongson Korean Restaurant when I visited Brisbane. I could not find many good places to eat in the Brisbane CBD, so I was happy to have found this restaurant. Great delicious authentic Korean food and good service.

The price is acceptable and the only downside i found is the oily and smelly environment . Good main course and side dish offered though. keep it up guys

This is a favourite of mine whenever I have a Korean food craving. It sounds weird, but my favourite dish is the sweet potato noodles. Of all the things noodles could be made of, sweet potato isn't one that comes to mind first, but these are delicious! Service is quick and basic, but you come here for the food, not conversation from the waiters. Probably the best Korean in Brisbane, and fantastic value as well!

My wife agrees, she loves the sweet potato noodles also.

You can always tell a great asian restaurant by how popular it is with the expats, and Madtongsan is no exception. The menu is cheap as chips and always delicious. We have tried a few of their dishes but always seem to end up ordering the same things; dol sot bi bim bap (spicy fried rice), soon du bu chigae (spicy seafood soup), kal bi chim (sweet beef stew) and a regular seafood pancake. More than enough food for 3 people to share and all for less than $50. The decor is very basic but the food is probably the best Korean al a carte you will find in Brisbane.

I'm not really into Korean food, but I don't mind Madtongsan. I prefer its bigger sister Madtongsan II near by. The Bi Bim Bap is what I normally go for. Served in a hot stone bowel makes the rice lovely and crunchy on the bottom. Madtongsan II has better decore and I find a slightly higher quality of food. e.g sometimes I find the Bi Bim Bap was a bit too oily at Madtongsan but never had that problem at Madtongsan II. The tables at II have a buzzer on them to call the staff. Also you can get more of the free side dishes which are tasty especially the creamy pasta. Prices are reasonable and you will be full by the time you leave. But void the sweet fried pork dish as it was dry, too much batter and sticky sweet.

Approximate cost: $10

Personally I prefer the original shop. We tried Madtongsan II once and just didn't enjoy it as much. Madtongsan II actually used to be Gaia previously, now THAT was hands down the best Korean restaurant.

Went on a Wednesday night- which was surprisingly busy. 10-15 minute wait for a table. Waiter/waitresses did not respond to our buzzer to order. 20 minute wait on food as well. Though I expect these are due to how busy it was. Food was lovely, but VERY SPICY! We were not given options for levels of spiciness, so I recommend keeping this in mind if you go. Small but all round pleasant.

If you are not into spicy food then this isn't for you, but if you love Korean then you will love it here. Most meals are under $10 so great value. The actual restaurant is simple but clean. And most importantly all but one of the dishes I've tasted here was delicious.

Great place for a quick meal after Friday night shopping in the city. Friends introduced us to this place and it's become a staple. Careful of the piping hot bowls some of the dishes are served in. Very casual atmosphere, suitable for a quick feed. Great tasty food.

The food was terrific as usual, but the staff stood aroound behind the counter a lot, not much service. The wait is usually a bit longer during peak times as well. But overall, the food was great and price was reasonable so you can't complain.

good value for a standard Korean restaurant. Service was not that great, staff was not attentive, but for the money that you spend, this is still acceptable.
