In terms of authentic japanese cuisine, Matsuri is arguably my favourite place to eat. The staff are always very friendly. The waiting time for the food is pleasantly quick (around 15-20 minutes), even on busy friday and saturday nights. You can tell that alot of effort goes into their dishes just by looking at the design. So far i havent experienced one dish i did not find enjoyable. My personal favourite dish would be their "aburi salmon donburi" which tastes absolutely amazing and refreshing at the same time. If you go as a group i would recommend their hotpot or sashimi and sushi platters. Please note though that the price here can be a bit expensive, however it is in the Entertainment book so definitely worth it to give it a try

Wow! I didn't realise it had been so long between visits.
But you can definitely say they're sticking with the formula that works. And this pays off in dividends.

This offers the most authentic and highest quality Japanese food in South Australia. The sushi and sashimi boats are lovely as are the cold noodles. There is a raw beef and spring onion dish that is a real highlight. We paired our lingering meal with a bottle of sake.

From the outside of the restaurant, this place looks very old especially the sliding door. But when I entered the restaurant, it gave me a nice and warm japanese food. On that day, my partner and me ordered the sushi and sashimi boat and the seafood hotspot. I love the fact that the boat gives a good selection of sushi and sashimi, but price wise it is more expensive compared to other japanese restaurant. The hotpot was nice, it has lots of ingredients like osyter, fish, prawn, tofu, cabbage, eggplant and some noodle as well. As for dessert we ordered the black sesame ice cream which is so nice, to me it is one of the best sesame ice cream that i have.

I love this restaurant. I love how it is so traditional - you will need to remove your shoes if you want to sit in the seats in the ground. The food was lovely, and the service was outstanding! The food and chef are def authentic japanese, i would come back again for sure!

I recently went to Matsuri for dinner and it was a wonderful experience. We sat in the 'traditional' section - shoes off, feet tucked under the table. The decor is beautiful and there is a degree of privacy offered by a screen or a large decorative kimono separating each dining party. The staff are professional, courteous, kind and patient. The food is delicious and I recommend the sashimi platter. Dishes can take a little while to be served, especially if you order more later in the meal after placing the main order, but it's not a dramatically long wait.
Prices are quite reasonable considering the whole dining experience. We paid $96 for entrees, multiple sushi plates, the entree size sashimi platter, and two glasses of wine each.
On another visit to Matsuri several months ago I tried the plum wine. Wow. What a treat. It is great as an apero or dessert wine. Quite sweet and a taste sensation.
If you want to be transported out of Adelaide for a night for a relaxing and beautiful Japanese dinner, try Matsuri.

A very authentic Japanese restaurant, you have the option of either Western or traditional Japanese seating. The staff are all dressed in traditional attire and the food is much closer to Japan than many other Japanese restaurants I've ever been to. They have a wide selection of delicious dishes, so coming in a large group willing to try it all and share is definitely recommended.

Matsuri is an excellent Japanese restaurant with fantastic food and friendly staff, the service is always friendly and although they are always busy and food may take a while to get to your table the service, atmosphere, friendly staff and exceptional food more than makes up for it. They have a huge selection of food, entree's, mains, sides, bentos, sushi boats, noodle/rice/soup dishes, plenty of excelent choices.

Went for a casual dinner with friends - we had the sushi boat (among other things) and i haven't been able to get it out of my head ever since! Fantastic food - service was prompt and friendly but probably not the best I have ever had either. Overall a fabulous little restaurant and somewhere I will be back to again and again!
