30 reviews about Maxi Foods Supermarket

Love the variety here. Having visited France some years ago, I am loving that I can purchase many of the foods I ate over there right here at home!
There is a good dry organics section, however the organic veg is often disappointing, with fruit and veg still sitting there at full price 2 weeks past their packing date.
They often run out of baskets at busy times which can be very annoying.

I visited today after reading the excellent reviews here and also a friend has recommended Maxi's as well. Great variety of brands and choice and a big range of goods. Asian groceries, bakery, health and organic and an excellent seafood section small but fresh. I wish we had one closer to where I live but will certainly be trying to get here every couple of weeks to stock up on those products that I cannot get elsewhere. Normally I shop at IGA and Aldi but will now include a visit to Maxi's.

Large supermarket that compares very well with Safeway and Cole's. I shop there quite often as a protest shop against the big two. Its in a small mall, with excellent parking, with dry cleaners, banks, hotel within close walking distance. In the mall also are pharmacy, bakers, butcher and tatts newsagency so theres a good opportunity to knock over most of the weekly shopping needs.

I shopped for the first time at Maxi Upper Ferntree Gully on recommendation from my son. The range of food was fabulous the prices better than the large supermarkets and the staff pleasant. Will shop there again lets have more of these stores.

Love the fresh fish section - quality, freshness, variety, good prices. It's the best I have found in the area, including Knox City and other supermarkets. Plenty of brands to choose from, including smaller brands not found in other supermarkets.
The health food section is great. The wide aisles are good. Staff are helpful and friendly.
Cat food specials are good at times.

This is a really well set out Supermarket. The aisles are wide and the shelves are generally well stacked. Their specials are really good and value for money. Maxi Foods is great for finding obscure and exotic items. You can cook pretty much any dish because you know that you are going to find the ingredients at Maxi. They stock brands that the big chains do not bother with. They are also fantastic in helping small food suppliers getting shelf space. For example years ago we discovered Carmen's Muesli at Maxi Foods. At that time the only place that we could find this high quality muesli.
Maxi is not a multi national supermarket conglomerate and therefore they have the flexibility to help start trends rather than be a follower when those trends are already well established.
Parking is also great.
The only flaw is that sometimes the vegies are a bit past their best. Usually they are pretty good about bagging them up and putting them on a discount rack. I have been caught out twice when I have asked my daughter to bring home vegies for me. The beans that she brought home were limp and very disappointing. I only mention this for accuracy as it is very rare that I am disappointed with Maxi Foods.

Has a great variety of stock in all categories including the international section. Love the market day on Thursday for good bargains. Staff are friendly and makes a nice shopping experience at a reasonable price. Open until midnight on weekdays which is handy for shift workers.

I've shopped there once or twice over the last few years, but I've recently decided to shop there instead of coles or safeway because I'm sick of the other two not stocking the brands I want. I've been quite impressed with the variety of foods they have. The layout is still a bit confusing for me, but it's something I'll get used to. If you are into bread making, they have a huge section of premade mixes and also grains and things you can use to make your own. They also have an impressive organic, health and ethnic food section. I have no idea how they compare price wise, but I prefer the feel of the supermarket and the fact it stocks more of what I want. Because it's further away for me, it also makes me plan my shopping more (which is great), because I don't want to just pop in frequently like I do with my local coles.... so it's making me more organised.

I love going to shop at Maxi Foods. The food is always fresh and they have a great variety. The international and health food sections are wonderful, I love trying the different food on offer. They have very reasonable prices.

This supermarket is wonderful when looking for stock not always available at supermarkets like Coles and Safeway. Their prices for most items are also very competitive, and I just love the variety of international groceries available!
