I love going to the movies here! And what better place than in the centre of town right next to loads of cafes and restaurants. Staff are friendly and helpful. Movie choices are excellent. The Palace shows new releases, art house, and foreign films. It has so much character and the lighting is excellent - dim, but not so dim you can't see where you're walking. There's an excellent selection of drinks and nibbles and you can even enjoy a cheeky champagne - while watching a movie. Tickets are very reasonably priced (especially compared to fluorescent lit, no character movie theatres in shopping malls which shall remain nameless). Also, it's well worth becoming a member. Tickets are cheaper and there are opportunities for advanced screenings as members, and competitions. Whenever I think moves in Adelaide, I think the Palace.

Cheap (if you watch a movie on monday)!
Adelaide largest IMAX screen, how nice!
The movie selections are limited though. On the bright side, sometimes they screen some asian movies =D

Approximate cost: $8

Nova does cheap monday tickets, 8.50 for every session for evening times or 7-ish for day sessions (I've never been during the day).

I go once a month on a Monday, at least. My sister and I have a deal where one of us pays one time and the other, the next.

For under $30, you get two tickets, popcorn and drink. Half of Adelaide seems to be there when there's a good selection of movies on.

On every other day of the week, the tickets are a bit expensive. And some of the cinemas are very small. But still, the movies they play are great, and they are in the middle of the city, so as long as you take a jacket it's always great, clean fun.

My theory is if you make the effort to go to the movies, make it an experience/a night out. So I prefer the smaller size of these theatres, the grand staircase leading up to the theatres and the really comfy seats of Palace Nova than the more commercial theatres. No discount tickets but so close to a great eating strip and a great experience.

I have only been to this theatre once and it was quite pleasant but very dark inside. I found it hard to get parking and it was difficult to understand where the service counters was & the theatre themselves. I happen to be in the area when I went and I am not sure if it is open today?

Palace nova is my preferred movie theater. They always show a great range of alternative movies. Good movie club where you get discounted tickets and free tickets for your birthday.

Movie Club membership fantastic value particularly the Golden club. Shows great range of international and local movies and film festivals. Membership of movie club gives you the e-newsletter with details of special events including some free or cut-price previews. Sometimes the allocated seating is silly - especially when asked if you want middle or back and it is a small theatre with about 12 rows and almost no one else in there. I love the Palace-Nova because of the films they show, the comfort of the seats, the special Q&A events with directors etc present and the support given to the Australian film industry.

Palace Nova screens a variety of Hollywood to Indie films, which is great as many cinemas only screen typical Hollywood films. Easy to travel to as it is located on Rundle Street in the city and a comfortable environment.

Great alternative to Hoyts etc BUT..what is going on with the ridiculous allocated seating? Very annoying having late comers ruining my experience trying to find their allocated seats, making me consider not returning. We are all adults, we can choose our seats, get rid of it NOW

The allocated seating system is both ridiculous and very annoying in that I as a customer want to sit where I want, not where the cinema employee puts me. Scrap this system please.

I agree; people have come in late and rudely stood above me waiting for me to vacate their seats, forcing me to go back to my original seat that someone else took, and ask them to move too, creating a messy domino effect.

The allocated seat system is so awkward!

Great selection of film titles. Very comfortable seats however the best feature is that its not filled with giggly teens and people who talk through films found in large megaplex cinemas.
