Wow! This restaurant is amazing and worth the hype. The décor is lovely and makes you feel like you are overseas. The service was brilliant and the food was even better. Best spring rolls I have had anywhere. It is expensive, but totally worth it!

I would love to visit this place once day. The decor seems great, however the prices sound expensive.

Quite good food is how I would sum up Red Latern. The prices a tad exy but the food is worth it.

one word...disappointing. The food was good, the service was good, but there was nothing really special here for me. The lamb ribs were a stand out, but nothing else really lit my fire. Being a regular visitor to vietnamese places in marrickville and further afield, you cant help but compare. The decor was certainly superior but the food was on par at twice the price.

Cruise down Crown St and you could potentially walk straight past this cozy little joint. Despite not having a clear or visible sign, the red hues of the huge Westpac sign made us think it was coming from the restaurant! Anyway, after um-ing and ah-ing about our dinner options, (and having the special cocktail to make things easier (lime & ginger martini, yes please!) my husband and I decided on a Hanoi Hunger tasting plate and did not regret it one bit. The Lightly Battered Squid, is probably the best I have ever had, the dipping sauce (maybe fish sauce & lime juice?) went so well with it and I could have eaten a whole plate of the stuff! The twice cooked pork belly, heart of palm, tiger prawns and pickled bean sprout salad was amazing. I wasn't a huge fan of the Angus sirloin as it tasted slightly burnt, but hubby woolfed it down hungrily. I didn't think we'd get through all 8 courses, but we managed to do so. To top the evening off, the staff was lovely and the food came out promptly. Food coma came later!

The service, the décor and the food with matching wines all combined to make this a fantastic experience. We could not fault anything. The food is superb but pricey. The drinks were fairly expensive. I was pleasantly surprised by the generosity of the tasting platters serves and could only just fit in a dessert (but that goes into a different stomach doesn't it!). Highly reccommended and I give it a big thumbs up!

Red Lantern offered a modern dining experience with beautiful food with equally high prices. Set in the middle of a colony of food retreats, red lantern had a variety of delicious authentic and modified Asian dishes. Service was reasonable but lacked the serving facilities for a almost always busy restaurant. Drinks lacked in variety but were of decent standards. But to reinstate my point, the food served here is simply delicious and outstandingly delectable. I would definitely recommend but just don't expect it to be a budget, cheap and casual dine in experience.

Brillant food from Luke and Mark which is well worth a try. You wont be dissapointed. We had duck curry and crispy skin chicken for main. The food is full of flavour and the service is attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommend if you enjoy vietnamese food.

This was a very dissapointing experience I/We have been to Red Lantern twice now, and last time will be our final time. We had a table for six and made a booking for 6.30pm. Whilst we were eating our mains, the waiter came handed us the dessert menus and we were told that our table was needed shortly for another booking, they could have helped by not letting us wait 35 mins for our mains. This was never mentioned when I made the booking, yet the restaurant manager insisted that we would have been told at the time of the booking. This was just rude, and blatantly just calling me a liar, as i was never told anything of the sort and if I had been would have moved my booking to a later one, as I have a very good idea about how these things work.

The food is not special, it is high quality but nothing at all special and does not warrant the high prices that the restaurant demands. It really does show how marketing the owner on Ready Steady Cook can build a restaurant's reputation rather than actual food creativity, somewhere the plot has been lost since our 2010 visit. There are plenty of other competitors in Sydney that do exactly the same level food and have the same ambiance without the rude, poor service with attitude.

Approximate cost: $$$$$$

I hate being rushed out of a restaurant. It just ruins your whole dining experience.
