Been coming here for a few months to have the high tea but never again ! Bad service and the waitress was downright rude , never have I or my friends been subjected to bad attitude from their staff. They don’t deserve 1 Star .

Previously we have really enjoyed our experience at Room at Roses but today we were very disappointed. We had booked for midday but they argued that the booking was for 12:30 even though there were tables. Our meals were very slow in coming so we ordered extra coffee.
When we went to pay, we were astonished by the lack of courtesy. They have a policy of one bill per table. Fair enough. So we paid with two $50 notes and 50c so that the change would be easy to split. We asked for the change to be given as two $10 notes and two $1. The assistant informed us that she could not do that as they issued one bill per table. Wow! So they are not in a position to be able to give change in different denominations! To make matters even worse, the assistant than argued that she had not put the 50 cent piece in the register! Yes, she agreed, it had been on the counter, but she was unwilling to take it off the bill because she didn't remember putting it in the till! Eventually, we asked for the manager. She gave us our change correctly but no apology for the way we had been treated. Hopefully, no one else I know will want to meet me here. I certainly do not want to go back!

This is a Brisbane icon. The Devonshire teas here are the best in the city, especially as they come with raspberry instead of strawberry jam. Have yet to try the high teas, but high tea has become so common everywhere now, I prefer to stick to Devonshire teas.

It has that feel that you should dress up nicely to visit here.

Set in a lovely old building which really added to the experience, the staff were very polite and the service was excellent. We went there for the high tea which was pretty good apart from the lack of cream (6 scones and 1 tablespoon of cream). Butter would have been an excellent addition for the type of scones on offer. They sell some lovely old fashioned teacups and saucers yet the teacups we got were cheap, white, square, utilitarian cups. Also, there was not enough tea for the amount of people (One pot for 3 people). These are simple fixes and would really add to the appeal of an otherwise excellent experience.

Our of our favourite places to eat when we are in Brisbane.
Very quaint and traditional with an oldie worlde charm about it.
Lovely drinking your tea out of real china cups and having nice table wear and flowers on the table.
They do lovely meals consisting of salads, sandwiches etc., and lots of delicious cakes and slices.
We have never been here yet for high tea but its on my to-do-list.
I usually have the salmon salad while hubby as his chicken sandwiches. Meals are a bit pricey. My salmon salad was around $28 but everything is presented beautifully and its expected prices for Brisbane.
Also there are not many places in Brisbane where I can be guaranteed a Gluten free meal.
Staff are polite and attentive. Although we had to ask for a pot of hot water so we could have a second cup of tea from our pot.
Its a shame that there arn't more places like this around.

Approximate cost: $25+

Went to high tea lunch with a bunch of girlfriends and I was blown away by the experience. Need to book in advanced for the high tea. The price is a bit expensive but it is worth it for special occasions. I hear that the lunch menu is just as delicious!

Fresh flowers on the table gives it that extra special touch.

Beautiful decor as befits the name. Very lovely for a special occasion but quite expensive for lunch. Try to grab a table away from the kitchen door- always a good tip anywhere! The food was plentiful and 5 star quality. The drinks menu was overpriced so we didn't indulge. The wait staff were friendly but could be a little snobbish. Definitely for the better dressed and of the ladies who lunch variety.

This was the most indulgent afternoon tea I have ever had! So thoroughly gorgeous, I can't wait to go again! It wasn't cheap, but for a special occasion, what a treat! Book a table and enjoy.

My sisters and I took my Grandma here for High Tea and it was the best High Tea that I have been too. The atmosphere is fantastic and the High Tea is reasonably priced and very yummy!!
