I feel like Skybus is unnecessarily expensive for the service it provides. A high frequency airport shuttle is something that really should be done by rail, but for now it's the best we have. It does the job well enough, but as a bus it is of course susceptible to congestion like cars are. I would like to see Skybus be better advocates for dedicated bus lanes on the way to/from the airport. It is however, high frequency, and that is something that it does well. I appreciate the rolling out of double decker buses because one of the key issues is the lack of room on board, and you can sometimes be forced to wait a bus or two before you can get on.

They dont run to published schedule, buses wait at airport until full, buses are jam packed with seats which make for a very uncomfortable 30-60 minutes

Approximate cost: $19

Website claims frequent buses every 10 minutes we just waited 25 minutes. Missed one bus because website said buy tickets at bus however we were redirected back to airport to buy tix.
Website says $30 return but actually it $38 and return has no discount on one way
With all the waiting time wasted a taxi or uber would definitely be better especially for 2 or more passengers

Approximate cost: $38

Very convenient running direct to the city every 15 minutes.
Unfortunately I find it very expensive at $15 a ticket for a 20 minute bus ride- and no concession card discount for students.

Approximate cost: $15

The thing I LOVE about the skybus is it's convenience. During the day it runs about every 10-15 minutes. I've taken the skybus quite a few times and haven't had any problems, its never late or anything. However it's so expensive- it's not like people going to the airport aren't already spending enough money. They should offer student discounts at least.

I find it expensive too. There are cheaper ways to the airport but unfortunately they take ages!

On Saturday 19th July I purchased two adult return tickets for cash at a Skybus booth (T31) outside Tullamarine Airport. These were bought at the same time so would be on the same transaction number. If you lose one, you have to purchase another ticket as it appears they have no audit trail and they are unsympathetic to you. Buses are crowded with little leg or body room. Unpleasant to deal with when issues arise. Edit! Found a much cheaper way to get to and from Tullamarine and Melbourne CBD: http://aerohaveno.blogspot.com.au/2014/02/to-melbourne-airport-cheap-arse-way.html

Approximate cost: $78

I've used skybus quiet a few times and never had any problems. They have so many trips scheduled that it is easy to find a time suitable. They have separate spaces for luggage and also ok for people with prams. Tickets can be purchased online or at the terminal.

The Skybus provides a somewhat expensive, however extremely convenient transport service between the Southern Cross Railway Station in Melbourne's CBD, and the Melbourne Airport.

As I don't drive, it can often be hard travelling between the city and the airport (which you would generally take the tollway to). Unlike the public bus which makes several stops and can take 1 or more hours to reach the airport, the Skybus goes directly (via tollway) from the train station and back, and operates every 10-15 minutes.

Tickets can be purchased way ahead of time, and while somewhat expensive, can be put down to the fact that you would be paying tollway fees had you driven to the airport yourself.

The staff are friendly, and the service almost always runs to time. I would definitely recommend it for anyone travelling to and from the Melbourne airport.

I have been to Melbourne few times and I always take the Skybus to and from the airport. It is fast and it runs every 15 mins on weekdays and it has an online time table and it is always runs on time. The best part is that you can buy tickets online way ahead of your trip.

As first time visitors to Melbourne we were looking for the easiest and most convenient way to get into city from the airport (and back again at the end of our trip). The Skybus shuttle service did just that. Conveniently located just outside the domestic arrival terminal, it's hard to miss. And the complimentary hotel transfer was a bonus. All drivers that we dealt with were great - helpful and friendly. I thought the price was good value considering what it might've cost us if we had used a taxi. Overall, services provided by Skybus gave us a great first impression of Melbourne.

Approximate cost: $28 return adult
