If you have a period home of any sort, or even if you don't and just want something special, then Sneddon's in Yarraville is the place to go.

They have reproduction doors in metal and timber - beautiful re-creations of period styles. We got a decorative wooden screen door just right for us, the age of our house and the style we liked. And you can have "the bar" (low for Victorian and high for Federation) anywhere you like to suit your house's front door. They do the finish in whatever colour and stain/varnish you require. Looks sensational and just sets off our entrance wonderfully.

We also got a timber mantle for a fireplace from these guys - if you want the whole cast iron fireplace and tiles, they've got that too. They offer installation of the whole project from start to finish if you need it.

And the lighting - I can't begin to describe the beautiful lights they have. Even if you only want that one little brass catch for your window or knob for your cupboard, they've got it.

Staff are extremely knowledgeable about their products and what your requirements might be. Very helpful to talk to and give accurate time lines as to when your item might be finished.

Of course none of this is cheap. The quality is first rate and the uniqueness is unparalleled - you can't get this stuff anywhere else, so be prepared to decide if your house is worth it.
