great atmosphere - and thats what youre paying for! this place is the real deal american fifties diner and highly recommended over the local alternaltive of TGI Fridays up the street. some highly priced items but otherwise worth a visit especially with out of town friends. on weekend nights they have a fun interactive 'shake your tailfeather' dance with the diner waitstaff which is hilarious and amusing. no vegetarian options aside from fries but meat eaters would be more than happy here with their deluxe 'dog' and burger options. cool juxebox music where you can pick what plays and clean establishment, too.

I love the 1950's vibe of this place. When I am stressed out, I just forget the worries and listen to music from a duke box. It's cute and unpretentious place.

I ordered a hamburger combination which includes the burger, fries and drink. The burger size is small; but, the 2 inch filling is rather big. This was impressive. The fries are long, thick and may need more salt or seasoning. Then I had the hot fudge chocolate sundae. My partner had a chilli dog combination and a hot fudge sundae. The bill totaled $55.00.

In sum, I was full with this meal. The quality of food is good. These chips are crispy, not too oily and of a good size. The food was tasty. The hot fudge sundae was delicious. It had three scoops of vanilla ice cream, nuts, a glace cherry, cream with a umbrella as garnish which is a real treat. The thick shakes are good here as well.

Yet, the seats were a little low, but comfortable. You may have trouble trying to get out of the booth. Staff were friendly, effective and efficient. Staff danced which was fun, and part of the nice experience.

I enjoyed this place, and will go back again. This place offered good value for money, great food quality and was relaxing. I think place is a true gem. I will be back again.

Approximate cost: $16.50 (combino)

Love visiting Soda Rock! Enjoyable diner fare, in a great atmosphere. Really enjoy the different hotdogs and burgers - make sure you get extra bacon, as the bacon they use is fantastic! I actually asked the chef about the bacon, and he mentioned they had to source it, as it's american style bacon, not aussie style bacon
It's also great when "Shake your tailfeather" comes on and the staff come out and dance!

Love the idea of the staff dancing. I'll have to give it a try.

Nice place to dine out for american style burgers.

My hubby and I went there so we use our discount voucher (entertainment book) and also for the fact we wanted to have some different for a quick dinner whilst in the area

the music was fantastic featuring old rock and roll songs

burgers were okay, not as good as your local fish and chip shop but still nice and enjoyable to eat

wait staff were friendly and chatty.

Had an entertainment booklet voucher for "buy one burger get one free" so decided to try this place out before the voucher expires. Went in for dinner one weekend and was able to get seats straightaway. Waitresses were friendly and outgoing. I had the chilli burger and specifically asked for extra hot. The burger was just OK, nothing special. The chilli con carne was tasty but lack heat even though I already requested for extra hot. The patty was tender and juicy but lack in seasoning. Considering that they seem to be specializing in burgers, I was expecting more. The decor is old school, I guess maybe that's how diner in USA look like. The only highlight of the night was that during our dinner, the waitresses suddenly went to the middle of the room and started dancing. The dance was fun and very enjoyable.

Is this place still around. I haven't been here for at least 20 years. It sounds like you enjoyed yourself.

Thanks for the good review.

Was at Chapel St yesterday and as it was Pouring with rain just happened to stumble into the nearest place to eat.
The burgers were soooo yummy! 100% beef and weren't super greasy as how I had expected them to be. Had really yummy thick cut chips too!
The decor is a bit crappy - seats needed to be upgraded!

Approximate cost: $15 a meal

This place wasn't as good as I thought but it was still really good. I like the whole environment of the place the music, the jukeboxes and the range of items. Take a step into the past with this diner :)

great burgers and malts. Not so expensive compared to other "diners" staff are friendly, and smiling. Nice for families, and couples. They only need to repair the seat lining..
