I visited this place for the souvlaki :)
The classic souvlakis were 12.50 each, was happy with the price.
I ordered the chicken one, and my friend ordered a mixed one.
The meats were salty, both the chicken and the mixed one.
But they still tasted great. Liked it.
The waiter was super nice.
Also this place is open 24 hrs, I've seen people going in late at night.
I took my husband here for our recent wedding anniversary. Thank goodness I knew there were upstairs seating, because down stairs is not where I would have wanted to sit. The food was delicious and although the dishes sometimes looked small, there was no problem getting really full. A little pricy and service kind of dropped off a little the quieter the restaurant got, but a pleasant enough experience, but not somewhere I would go back to for a restaurant experience, but a quick, casual sit down lunch would be enjoyable food.
i didn't realize there was an upstairs seating omg i'm so going upstairs the next time around xx
Great greek food. Weird setup with a restaurant for souvlaki and typically fast food style offerings. Souvlaki is tasty as. Their yoghurt dips are great with chips. When in Vic would definitely visit this place again. There is also a fantastic cake shop close buy for some top deserts.
Approximate cost: $10 - 20
i absolutely loved the dips!
I love this place, I've been going since I was a little kid. The staff are pretty great and the food always orgasmic. Whether eating in or taking away you'll enjoy yourself
Approximate cost: $11
My girlfriend and I LOVE the mixed souvlakis here. Always fast service and consistently good quality. If you're hungry late at night in the CBD, I urge you to visit these guys.
This place was relatively packed especially compared to other greek restaurants close by. The decor is very interesting and lives up to the name of stalactites. The menu is well priced. Ordered chicken giro which was tasty however the pita bread was chewy. Service was prompt.
Approximate cost: $12.5 for chicken giro
i agree i find the decor quite clever and very fitting to the namesake!
given the atmosphere & service, it's pretty okay value, i absolutely love the decor, the roof's exactly what the restaurant is! very greek cuisine, we ordered the meat & bread, which was nice with the dips but what we really loved was the octopus! you gotta try it! ended up spending $60 for 2 people
Approximate cost: $50
Good value. Stalactites is halfway between a greek bistro and fastfood cafe. There are takeaway souvlakis freshly wrapped to order, to a more wider selection of items on the sit down menu, which includes a small section of greek homestyle meals.
In my opinion, the homestyle dishes are great. generous servings of hearty dishes just like home. The only difference, is that it is brought to your table in half the time and there is no cleaning up afterwards.
Love the place.
This place is a melbourne institution.
i agree about the fastfood aspect - the service sure is quick!
My partner and I went here at 1am to celebrate our anniversary. despite it being a Friday night, we were seated within 5 mins and were ordering 5 mins later. The place was packed full but that didn't stop the staff from being attentive and helpful, especially as I suffer from allergies.
We WILL be returning here ASAP.
Approximate cost: $80.00
1am wow! i didn't know they were open that late xx
Very popular Greek restaurant in the city. Quick service and delicious food. Love the giro platters and dips. Reasonably priced. Is opened 24/7 which is also a bonus.
