I love the verandah at this place it's so relaxing!! I've been here for coffee which was pleasant and lunch..The menu is pricy I think for lunch but tasty! Mum had and shared with me the trio of dips and was impressed, different types of bread all salted and warmed up and babaganoush amongst other tasty dips! Was an enjoyable lunch however I would like some snacky things on offer and I would definitely visit more often!

Went here for breakfast, and I must say the service was really good and the serving proportion was great! Poached eggs were cooked perfectly. Made the rest of the day spent with my girlfriend amazing! :)

Came here for breakfast on Saturday morning, loads of food options and an all day breakfast. Big breakfasts come with tea or coffee, and the orange juice comes in HUGE milkshake glasses! Was very full and happy at the end. Sit out on the balcony on a nice day!

Used to come here for breakfast reasonably regularly, but haven't been for a while. Tried again for a special birthday breakfast today. Food still at a high standard and reasonably priced. Unfortunately today we lucked out and didn't get the cheerful bloke serving us, we got a surly young lass who didn't speak at all, just stood at the table waiting to take order. Food came promptly but then we waited half an hour plus for her to clear the table and offer us coffee .... even went in search of her but she must have been hiding ... there was only one other table occupied, so being busy can't be an excuse. Very disappointing as it is a nice spot, but we will probably go elsewhere next time.

Approximate cost: $18

Sadly i can't recommend this place for the service. We went on a sunday, and granted it was a little busy but when we entered we were ignored for about five minutes, then when finally approached we said we had a booking. The waiter didn't seem to understand what we meant. He went away for a bit then we saw him take some more orders before he came back and said there was no reservation under that name. He even showed us the reservation book. As we were meeting people we didn't wish to leave so he reluctantly showed us an outside table, on a wet and cold day. When the person who made the booking arrived it was discovered the booking had been taken down as the wrong name. It took a while for our order to be taken for both mains and dessert and they took a while coming (although it was busy) and there was a mix up with dessert (our fault) which took a surprisingly long time to rectify.
However, the food was very nice when it came and the bill was significantly less than expected. I would go back there again, but i think they need to train the staff up a bit better.

This place sure sounds interesting !! I do head towards that direction pretty often but never got to try any of the cafes there. I shall have to give this one a go ...

Stonehouse offers a tranquil country environment on the banks of the Yarra River. You can dine inside by the fire place in winter or on the one of two balconies. One baloncony is heated whereby you can still enjoy the outdoors comfortably any time of the year. The 2nd balcony is open to the outdoors where you can enjoy the native birds as they feed. Birds I seen there at different times include cocky's, galahs, rosella's, corrella's, Kooka's and many more. If you enjoy being close to nature this is a delightful expereince whether it's an enjoyable meal for two or coffee with a friend. The scones are certainly worth indulging in. Reasonably priced. Service is always good, staff are friendly.
