Taipan is an established leader of Yum Cha in the eastern suburbs and has a well deserved reputation.

Because of their popularity you always need to book ahead if you don't want to risk a long wait.

There is a huge variety of delicasies to choose from, each of which has been prepared carefully and authentically. When choosing dishes with your eyes it's hard to be disappointed!

Expect a lot of hustle and bustle, which is the mark of a successful Chinese restaurant. For non-trolley orders (such as asking for water or bbq pork buns to take home) you also need to expect that it will take a reasonable amount of time to be fulfilled (~20 mins, which is fair enough given that their service model is built around the yum cha carts).

Overall: Awesome Yum Cha with reasonable prices and service.

Food was very tasty. Service was very prompt once we started ordering. 4 of us 4 entrees and 3 mains and rice- approx $50 per head. Waiters- no connection with patrons, no smiles, no conversation at all. Freezing cold night and heating barely on. Most diners eating with their bulky winter coats on. Management obviously oblivious to the needs of their customers. Overall unless the heating is on and the staff have some interaction with diners - I wouldn't return sadly.

Approximate cost: $25.00

One of my favourite places for yum cha in Melbourne. Their prices are reasonable and their dumplings are above average. Highly recommended that bookings are made in advance and you turn up on time else they give your table to those who have rocked up on time without a booking. It can get a little chaotic during the weekends with little space to move due to the restaurant putting in as many tables as they can fit. But still a good yum cha experience.

This is benchmark for Yum Cha in Melbourne. The food here is of decent quality at very reasonable prices. Service can be a bit hit and miss but on average I have no complaints. They have set sessions on weekends and booking is a must(though you still may have to wait for a table if you are late).

The yumcha here is very nice. Usually you will need a booking to get a table for yumcha on the weekends. They have a pretty good variety and average pricing for the dishes

Famous place for Yum Cha. Have very creative DimSum styles with good quality although it's a bit expensive.

The BEST place in Melbourne for Yum Cha on a Sunday.

The variety is superb. The service is fantastic. The selection is absolutely mouth watering.

We have also had dinner here. It is by far the BEST for Chinese.

Only problem is you will forever be comparing other places to this restaurant.

Always busy - HAVE TO BOOK on a Sunday as the cue can get rather long - its that good!
