Unique Modern Australian dining experience on a restored, moving streetcar. Delicious food, fantastic service, and lovely sights all along the way! The food and drink was excellent and the staff attentive and even entertaining. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Melbourne.

my friend and i had an amazing evening. The meal was several courses and we had lots of drinks too. The staff made the night even more enjoyable by their friendly and efficient service. The trams route around the different areas made it a lovely time even for melbourners. Anyone visiting melbourne should try this to see around melbourne while enjoying a relaxing evening of great food and company.

Took my hubby here for his birthday for dinner and it was a bit of a hoot! They played Frank Sinatra songs the whole time. Food was very good. Decor inside was cool! Really seemed strange though riding around dining with music.

It's one of those things you need to do once in your life. If we have any overseas visitors we'll probably do it again. Very unique dining experience.

One of the best ways to see Melbourne is the early dinner in summer! Sit back and enjoy the food, the booze and the ambience whilst you cruise past peak hour commuters suffering. I took my mum and we had a blast, the rest of the tram car gathered around us to listen to us talk about places along the way from an historic view point. My mum grew up in WW2 and pointed out where the dance halls were, and I explained the sights like "weary" Dunlop's statue and his significance, the war memorial, queens gardens etc. The food was good and the booze is free, if you go I hope you enjoy it! They'd do well to tape me and my mother talking about the sights or write up a tour guide for you to read as you cruise arounf.

I loved this tram restaurant when hubby surprised me by taking me here for our last anniversary, not only do get an excellent meal but get to see the sights of Melbourne at the same time.
Delicious food which is a set menu but you get 5 courses if eating a late dinner.
Well worth coming here, for any occasion

Approximate cost: $120pp

Xmas Lunch 2013!...As I have been on the Tramcar Restaurant numerous times, inc. three times at Xmas..This year was a let down..the food was "too much"..We ordered the Turkey it came out warm,it was made up of FOUR HUGE SLICES OF "The Bird",so big in fact,it overhung the plate, hiding whatever, the soggy vegetables were underneath, the ham filling (unmentionable here!)...it was a let down, and embaressing ,as we had guests involving the Tourist Industry from NZ with us..HOWEVER,the Young Ladies who served us were just fantastic, happy, polite, they were great!...(ATTN. Mr. Opie..Tramcar No. we were on was No.6)....Wewill go back, but not for awhile, perhaps we were just unfortunate we were on this tram (3 of them that day).....I SINCERELY HOPE THE ,"CHEF" is given a haul over the coals on his food presentation...Great Day!..spoilt by Cafeteria style Piecart Food....All in all...NOT A HAPPY CHRISTMAS DAY!....Whoever is in charge should,do a (very) quick review of this "Chef on Tramcar 6 Christmas Day 2013"...before he hits the tracks again!!..It certainly was not worth the money!...I would say, food value only $23.00

Approximate cost: $170.00 (approx)per head

I Decided to do something different and booked a lunch trip for my wife and i on the Friday and had previously done the night trip and thought the day would provide better views. It is also a lot cheaper, only $65 a head for 2 courses cheese platter and basic spirits, wine, sparkling, port and coffee. The lunch trip is 2 hours where the late dinner is 3 hours and has dessert but is double the cost.. The trip starts with champagne and dips, entree was a choice of kangaroo or salmon followed by main choice of rib-eye or chicken fillet and finishing with a cheese platter, port and coffee. we both had a fabulous time and would love to do it again next time we are in Melbourne.

Approximate cost: $65

We went as a large group for the dinner. The train was absolutely beautiful old style.. The inside decorations are all set up really nice and it looks beautiful. Although the cost is around $77 per person it really is worth it as it is a 3 course dinner and all drinks included as well. I had the steak and it was devine, cooked perfectly which is amazing for the small space they had in the tram i was pleasantly suprised. The staff were incredibly friendly and always at hand for drinks and asking if we wanted more. I will definitly be doing the tram car again when I return to melbourne.

This  was my second time on this restaurant, we went with two of our friends,  it has good food, excellent service, and the setting of a grand tram/train dinning car of yesteryear gives it a great feel, the other bonus is you get to tour around Melbourne as the tram car restaurant takes you on a journey and travels along the tracks. It's  a great way to see the sights of Melbourne by night.
Again the  food is first rate, better than some fine dinning restaurants and all the Alcohol  from Champagne to wine to liquors are included, so if your a good eater and drinker this restaurant is good value. The food is delicious and the service excellent. The staff are always there and very attentive. We went for the late seating so we didn't feel as if we where being rushed to finish although in reality they do run to a schedule even though it's the last run for the night. Bring an appetite as there is a lot to eat. You must make a Reservation as they are required.
If I would have one criticism, it would be the fixed tables don't allow much room, one of our friends is on the larger side and was literally wedged between the fixed back chair and fixed table and he was uncomfortable, but didn't want to spoil the evening and as nothing could be done, didn't say anything.
Otherwise an excellent night where we were made to feel very relaxed. What a fantastic way to see the sites of Melbourne in air conditioned comfort.

Approximate cost: $115.00

I look forward to my next visit on the tramcar. The last time I went was over 12 months ago but boy was the food great, the service second to none. A five course meal - late dinner- will cost you just over $100 but includes your drinks (alcohol) as well and is well worth the cost. A must try even if it is only once.
