A West End institution, this lovely little cafe has lost some of its shine thanks to the nearby 3 monkeys cafe opening, but it still is a popular place to go.

The breakfast is really worth it and attracts lots of cyclists on weekends.

This is a great little café with AMAZING food! We headed there on a weekday for breakfast and were surprised to find that about 1/2 hour after we arrived (about 8:30am) it filled up completely with business people doing breakfast and coffees.

The food was absolutely delicious! I had a polenta cake that was one of the nicest things I've ever had for breakfast (and I go out for breakfast regularly).

The staff were friendly and courteous, however the food did seem to take forever to arrive - however, I did have a restless 6 month old baby so that may have made it seem longer!

Definitely worth checking out for breakfast or for a coffee!

Sounds nice but what a strange name for a cafe.

What a great little cafe. Very comfortable and extremely friendly service. We just went for a few juices which hit the spot on a warm day - The best juice I've had that's for sure. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

I went here again recently after a break of a year or two and it continues to deliver great service and beautiful meals. The service is always excellent with the servers willing to talk with you about anything, they make you feel welcome. The food is cooked quickly and there is good portion sizes which taste great. Always good for a nice lunch on the weekends after a big ride.

Approximate cost: $16

A West End institution, this cafe has been around for as long as I can remember. The line is always out the door for breakfast on weekends, and if you can stand to wait, it's worth it. Coffee is always great but it's the potato and feta hash cakes that keep me coming back. Creamy mash with just the right amount of seasoning, it's very difficult for me to be convinced to try anything else on the menu! When I have ventured into new foods, they've always been tasty.

Service is generally pretty good, although if you're seated in the garden area out the back it's not as attentive as it could be. Prices are a little high but it's on par with the food and service offered. The atmosphere is lovely, a quickly little cafe in an old gun shop, with lovely wooden floors and retaining much of the original building's character, hence the name.

Approximate cost: $18

Although you usually have to stand in line to get in on the weekends, The Gunshop is worth the wait. Obviously it's a really cool place to hang out but more importantly the food is GREAT. A modern, always changing menu means there's always something exciting to order on the menu and they're up with all the food trends. For a place that consistently wins awards you'd expect them to be good, and they are.

The place has a nice atmosphere. Its keep its old building unique style yet has modern upto date food and service. Can get a little warm if your sitting out on the street. Food is good but a little pricey.

From what I'd read recently of this place, they'd once been the number one cafe in West End but had fallen victim to rising prices and poor service of late. I have to admit on this occasion we arrived here as our two preferences were closed (it was a Tuesday)! However, as always when it comes to delicious food, I am happy to be proven wrong.

Couldn't fault the service, everyone was exceedingly lovely and on the ball. They were also happy to move us inside when I started to melt in the sunshine! They are SLIGHTLY more expensive but I think it's on par with the quality. They have an extensive menu, though I always feel sad when there's no pancakes. When going to West End, you're always spoilt for choice but you'd do well to give this place a try - good coffee and great food.

Approximate cost: $17

I have only been here a few times and every time the food is always fresh and amazing. The prices are almost like fine dining prices, but that's what is expected at restaurants like these. If you see a place that is always busy, you know that they make really good food!

The desserts are equally as yummy!
