Delicious food, but a little on the pricey side. I had their pizza and gnocchi - I'd recommend trying it!
I visited this cafe recently for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly service. Although it was very busy the staff made sure everything was in order and up to your satisfaction. I ordered the pepper calamari along with a bowl of chips. The food here is so delicious and tasty, I will definitely be coming back.
staff are absolutely wonderful, went here for a birthday dinner and we had the top floor
had the potato dish (for the life of me i couldn't remember what it was called - but it was a small appetizer) and the pumpkin risotto which was amazing!
Approximate cost: $30
sounds great making me hungry!
One of the better places on Lygon St.
Honest italian food at reasonable prices.
A pleasant casual atmosphere without being too casual (ie. the pizzerias with staff in t-shirts & sports caps) or exaggerated rustic appeal (ie. gingham tablecloths & smallgoods dangling from the ceiling).
Approximate cost: $15
Interesting to hear ... Did not much if this place. Thanks for sharing :-)
delicious gnocchi which I have to have every time I go here. It is always filled with uni students and has a great atmosphere.
uni students love it here it's a bit more affordable compared to the rest of lygon st
I agree with Liv from Hawthorn - quality is really variable. When I was at Uni a few years back, Trotters was the go-to for an occasion, or if we felt like treating ourselves a bit. This year, we've been 4 times, and it's been alternately good and not so great - we left twice very satisfied, and another two times dissatisfied with tough, bark-y mushrooms in the arancini and a thorougly underwhelmining pumpkin ravioli. I really do want them to buck up though, as I do love this place - the gnocchi with blue cheese sauce is so soul warming on a frigid Melbourne Winter night.
Approximate cost: $15-20
Trotters was my regular place to escape Uni. Its a small place, but has more atmosphere than the larger Lygon St resturants with the typical crowds. The menu does not change often, but they normally have some pretty good specials that are value for money.
Approximate cost: $18
The standard of food here varies - sometimes really good, other times ok. The place has a great rustic feel to it and is really busy with a good atmosphere. The coffee too can be hit and miss.
Approximate cost: $18
Good value, great atmosphere, on Lygon Street, but away from the lasagne strip. Great for a quick dinner before a movie at the Nova.
Approximate cost: $15
