Very delicate french food! need book 1 month in advance. Very professional service, 20 people in kitchen, there is mirror, so people can watch how chefs prepare food. I spend 130 for 6 courses. very good dessert!

One of Melbournes better restaurants. The service is immaculate and the food is very good.If I did have to pick on something I would say the ambience is a little cold. The last time we ate here was for our anniversary and the staff were very friendly and accomodating.

yes, wow wow wow....is all i can say about the food they served! We sat at the chef's table at $250 a head for a 10 course degustation menu.

Service was impeccable, couldn't fault it. Kind of acting a little too posh for my liking, but it is a very fine dining restaurant so didnt expect anything less. They were like snipers and drew particular attention to everyones needs.

Their vast knowledge of food and wine by the wait staff were impressive and I particularly enjoyed the chefs that would come out and explain the courses. It was quite entertaining having a birds eye view of the kitchen!

the food itself was to die for....very very pricey and something you would probably only do once in your life. I would dine at vue more often if I could afford to eat there more than once a year....but as far as experiences are concerned, one i will not forget in a hurry!

Awesome.
Extravagant.
Service was impeccable and timed to perfection.
The food - extraordinary.
A wonderful and memorable experience.
The wait staff do their job extremely well, but they do seem to have been instructed to not engage with the customers. I like talking, and I love talking to the staff because happy staff makes for a happy customers and it all forms part of the dining experience.

We did manage to squeeze some personality out of one of the waiters, who seemed to enjoy the little bit of informality that he could get away with.
I have dined at Vue de Monde and I will return again as soon as I find a rich husband lol

What can I say, my subsequent restaurant experiences have been dwarfed by Vue de Monde. It is simply the best restaurant I've been to. I went there with my husband on our first wedding anniversary. It was 10 course degustation dining that ended sweetly. Most of the dishes are unorthodox and the presentation is impeccable. One of our desserts was lavish cream (forgot which flavour) sitting in an open-shelled egg.
At one stage, they served one of the dishes when I disappeared to the toilet. After a few minutes of no show, they took both dishes back to the kitchen, put a new smoked coconut, changed the plates, re-arranged the look and sent them back to our table after my return looking fresh and flawless.
We might return later once we collect enough spare changes.

Great food and atmosphere, quite pricey to eat there more than once a month. Fantastic place to take someone on a date. Staff is a little condescending - but it's kind of expected in this atmosphere.

i was somewhat daunted by the prospect of dining at what I had been told was the finest dining experience in Australia, fears that were instantly alleviated when seated by staff that found an amazing balance between impeccable presentation and service with a solidly connected warmth to the customer.

What ensued was an extraordinary display of co-ordinated, timely service, fabulous setting, stimulating engagement, and having my own imagination of gastronomy expanded by Chef Bennett's outrageously innovative delights. There are not words for what I have taken away from this. There are merely those that have dined at Vue de Monde, and those that have not.

we had 5 course degustasion, it was alright, i could tell there was alot of effort in the food but it just wasnt my style, im comparing it to tetsuyas which i thought was better in food & value, the service was impeccable but i thought the prices were too expensive for the courses we received like this type of food was only for the rich...the dishes that i thought were horrible was this liquid filled mushroom 'gnochhi' they were like off green slimy slugs wich had an off greeny-brown liquid filling that burst warm in your mouth, to me the texture was like eating slugs with their guts oozing in your mouth, but the other dishes were great id like to try again maybe one day when i get enough cash to blow on a few hours of dining.

This review is for the cocktail night held at Cafe Vue every Friday evening. For $75 you get 5 cocktails matched with 5 tasting plates. As a vegetarian, my food came from the Vue De Monde kitchen, and WOW... the food was amazing. While the cocktails were on the smaller side, its incredble value when you break down - just $7.50 per item. Each month has a different theme (ie Oritental or the roaring 20s) and is often based upon a particular type of alcohol (the month I went was Gin). You will leave feeling hungry, but the experience is well worth it.

My experience here is a bit of a mixed reaction. I came here for a business dinner with my husband and 2 other couples. We ate at the Chefs Table and it was $250 a head without wine.

I was expecting the food to be French cuisine. But personally I wouldnt call it that. I would call it Experimental food with French influences.

We had 10 courses and even though the meals are small, looks are decieving and you get really full by the end.

Im a very fussy eater so some of the dishes made me feel sick because of the weird textures. For example, mushroom gnocchi with grated truffles. The truffles were awesome, but the gnocchi were not traditional gnocchi. Imagine grey slimy worms, then cut one in the middle and grey juice oozes out. Didnt look very appetising to me.

I also rated the service highly, because they were great in what they did. I just didnt like how everyone looked so serious and no one had a friendly smile. Trying to be posh too hard.

And I do go to top quality restarants regularly, though this one for me would be a once off.

OUt of the six of us, half loved the food and half didnt. I think its an experience thats a must try for yourself.

Approximate cost: $250
