This review is for Harro's Gourmet Pizza Bar, St Kilda East VIC

verified email - 19 Jul 2009

It took nearly 2 hours for my pizzas to be delivered. After first ordering, and being told it would be 35 mins, an hour later my pizzas showed up, but they were not what I ordered. I called to complain, and was told that yes they had stuffed up, and they will send 2 fresh pizzas out immediately (I live about 5 mins away). 40 mins later, we still had not received the pizzas, so I called up again, asking to speak to the manager. I was put on hold for 10 minutes before he came on the phone. He did not apologise once, simply stating over and over again that they were busy. Being busy on a friday night should not be an excuse, it should be expected (if you run a half decent place). After explaining that I just wanted my money back, he became increasingly nasty, and talking down to me, saying things like "listen DARLING". The conversation ended with him hanging up on me. I will never ever give this place my business again. When the pizzas finally showed up, I explained to the delivery driver what had gone on, and he just nodded and said "yeah, that guy is crazy". What a joke.

This review is for The Corner Hotel, Richmond VIC

The Corner is a great venue to see live music, and the beer garden is a wonderful place to soak up the sun (or the stars) whilst having a drink. You have to get there early to grab a seat/table though. The food offered from the kitchen is basicl pub fare, but pub fare done well.

This review is for Vue de Monde, Melbourne VIC

This review is for the cocktail night held at Cafe Vue every Friday evening. For $75 you get 5 cocktails matched with 5 tasting plates. As a vegetarian, my food came from the Vue De Monde kitchen, and WOW... the food was amazing. While the cocktails were on the smaller side, its incredble value when you break down - just $7.50 per item. Each month has a different theme (ie Oritental or the roaring 20s) and is often based upon a particular type of alcohol (the month I went was Gin). You will leave feeling hungry, but the experience is well worth it.

This review is for Amigo's, South Yarra VIC

verified email - 05 May 2009

Mexican food is hands down my favourite style of cuisine, and Amigos offers a lot of tempting Mexican fare. The prices are fairly expensive though. Even if you're on a budget, ordering a small nachos and a few drinks will still take the bill up to $30. Its worth the splurge every now and then because the food is nice - definitely a step up from the Taco Bill franchise.

The Nova is a brilliant arthouse cinema, offering a terrific range of movies. The premises are always clean and it always feels like a special night out when I come here to see a movie.

This review is for Taxi Dining Room, Melbourne VIC

verified email - 05 May 2009

Fine dining is a rarity for me these days, and my dinner at Taxi made me realise how much I miss the experience of going to a restaurant, and being treated like royalty. The service was great, and the food was amazing. Very filling and generous for the price. The decor and atmospher is beautiful, and its very easy to spend 3 or 4 hours savouring the experience.

This review is for The Alibi Room, New Farm QLD

This is hands down the best bar in Brisbane. The food on offer is amazing - as a vegetarian there are so many delicious options, and a real effort is made on providing vegan options, something I greatly admire. No matter what time of the day you go to this place, you will always be offered something fantastic. The truckers breakfast is astounding value for the amount of food you get. The Taco nights on Tuesday are always packed out for good reason - you really can't beat $2 tacos and $4 margaritas. Having moved down to Melbourne 2 years ago, I miss this place dreadfully, and always go there whenever I'm in town.

This review is for Big Mouth Cafe, St Kilda VIC

verified email - 05 May 2009

Being a St Kilda local, I have heard people rave about the food at Big Mouth. The location is great, and the upstairs dining room is beautiful, but I think the food is nothing to rave about. They used to have a vegie parma was delicious, but unfortunately upon my last visit, I found out they no longer offer this. A shame.

This review is for Las Chicas, Balaclava VIC

verified email - 05 May 2009

This has quickly become my favourite place for breakfast. Being a vegetarian who doesn't eat eggs, breakfast has been been a big drawcard for me. But Las Chicas changed this. Their baked bean brekky - housemade baked beans, spinach, and pumpkin and polenta bread is amazing. Washed down with a Bloody Mary, there is no better way to start a lazy day. Their offerings for lunch are also great - delicious paninis, burgers, and chips with lashings of vinegar. Yum!

This review is for The Vegie Bar, Fitzroy VIC

verified email - 05 May 2009

Once based in Brisbane, the Vegie Bar would be my first port of call during trips to Melbourne. As a vegetarian, the massive range of beautiful, fresh and delicious meat free dishes keeps me coming back again and again. Throughout the years I have tried a lot of the dishes on offer, but for the last year I have ordered the same thing - Dim Sims to start, followed by the Mee Goreng. These dishes are amazing, and I highly recommend them.
