A really wonderful shop - such a great range of non-tacky well made toys at very reasonable prices. The science kits like Volcano Making and What Is An Earthquake have been a lot of fun. They have a great range of musical instruments for kids of all ages too! The staff are very friendly and helpful too. Recommended!

Just a wonderful place for good quality, different, interesting and versatile toys, games and equipment. They are a retail shop which supply Kindergarten and Child Care centres so it's a bonus that general public can come here.

I was looking for "Tap Tap" - the cork board and wooden hammer with tiny tack nails which my son just loved at kinder. You can't get this at any other place, but Windmill had it of course and so much more. You could spend a lot in here and know you were getting great items which can actually assist your child's development.

Well worth the trip. And agree on the friendly and helpful staff.

Approximate cost: $35

A great little shop if you want quality toys, not plastic junk. It's amazing how much they can jam into such a small place. I didn't have too much time to spend there so I asked for some advice, which was pretty good. I was also offered free gift wrapping as I was buying a gift. When I didn't have time to stay for the wrapping, the lady gave me some wrapping paper to take home anyway.
The value is on par with other educational shops, although if you know exactly what you want, you can sometimes find it cheaper on ebay, etc. They often have specials on, so I have signed up for their email newsletter.

I compared prices of the products I wanted to buy, at 3 different on-line shops and Windmill's was the cheapest. So they're prices may be expensive compared to lower-quality items but I found their prices to be the best when comparing them to identical products. I think it must be that they only stock good quality, as they sell to kinder's and child care centre's they probably cant afford to sell junk.

An amazing range of gorgeous toys. If you are looking for quality toys rather than prices of plastic junk come to this shop. I would rather pay a bit more for something unique that will teach kids something and last them for ages.

A great toy shop. The stock is different from what you'd find at toys are us. It's focused on educational toys, so we go here to buy quality toy presents. Staff are friendly and happy to help if you don't know what you want

A lovely shop that offers everything you could possibly imagine - educational! Yes they are reasonably expensive but have such a good range and quite frankly they have a lot of products you just cant get anywhere else. I love shopping there just to look at all the fantastic stuff they have. I agree with some of the other reviews that the price does hold me back from buying....but I also know that educational items are expensive as they do not have the same marketplace demand as plastic toys offered in department stores.

Approximate cost: $30

I love Windmill, but don't go here if you are after a bargain or a sale! Everything is more expensive than what you can find it elsewhere. I guess they get away with it because they have the range all in one place. The price drags it down as I have alot of friends who want to go there, but when they hear the prices are turned off even bothering to drive there at all. If they were more competitive they would be a Melbourne institution for toys! Anything you can thik of will be here. I asked for help to find a toy and she directed me to something that was okay, but not quite what I was after so I browsed. A few minutes later she directed someone else to the exact same toy! Must have been a high mark up on that one lol!!! I agree with the previous comment not the happiest service as staff dont seem too enthusiastic about the toys. Worth a look.

Approximate cost: $31.00 for the cheapest naked doll.

The toys here are different and are hard to find elsewhere. The problem is that they are expensive. It is a good place to find wooden toys and educational puzzles. A great place to go to find that different something. I have been very disappointed at the service though - I have never received a smile there.

This is one of my favourite toy shops to pick up presents for my own children or for other kids' birthday/Xmas presents. The shop is jam-packed with a fantastic selection of toys, some of which you don't see in many shops. There is a particularly good range of educational toys (see the name!) and games etc. My kids and I like wandering around this place.

Highly recommended shop for kids -- and adults.
