We ate here recently and were shocked that they struggled to find us a table on a weeknight without a booking! They sure did fill up fast, but our food came out quickly and was very tasty. Service was very good, and they had hubby's favourite beer on tap (Chancer). We'd definitely return in the future, and we'll be sure to book ahead!

This is our regular haunt for a weekday lunch, as it's close to work and they have a HUGE menu, so everyone will find something to suit them. I'm surprised how busy it can be on even a dreary winter workday, so they must be doing something right. Never had a bad meal here, and their cakes look incredible (I just wish I had room for them!)

Approximate cost: $22

I've had all my pregnancy ultrasounds through BMI, and I cannot fault them. There is never a long wait, the staff are absolutely lovely and very accommodating. It can be a bit of a rabbit warren in there, but people will point you into the right direction!

I started visiting here when I couldn't afford to be out of pocket visiting my old GP all the time. The wait times can be quite long, but if I ever need to be seen, I make sure I get there at 7:30am and wait until they open. I have seen one doctor there who fobbed off my quite genuine concerns (regarding pregnancy and miscarriage) but everyone else seems wonderful.

This review is for Amazon Screens And Doors, Newtown VIC

I took two fly screens into Amazon to see if they could replace our cat-destroyed screens with something pet-proof. They assessed the frames on the spot to make sure they could handle the thicker mesh (which they could) and had them finished two business days later. Only cost $30 per screen too, which I was amazed at. We've got a few more fly screens to take in soon, so our entire house will be cat proof!

Approximate cost: $30 per screen

Their reptile food is a little more pricey - crickets are $7 here compared to $6 at Best Friends, and their rats are more expensive than Pet Stock on the Melbourne Road - but their location is so convenient for me, this is my regular haunt for reptile food. They used to stock woodies though, but now they never have them (I don't know if anywhere in Geelong does now?)

Service can sometimes be a little slow though, and there is generally only one sales assistant working at a time.

This review is for Motherworld, Geelong West VIC

I went to Motherworld after being severely disappointed by the service at the other main baby store in Geelong, and was blown away by how helpful and thorough the service was.

I think I must have been served by the owner, and he spent over half an hour walking me through all the different prams, their features and pros/cons. He helped me narrow my search down to a couple of different models, and gave me time to walk around the store with each to test their maneuverability and feel.

They seemed to stock a lot more higher end products (at least in the pram section) than the other major baby store in town, and a wider range of brands too.

I visited the store around 3:30 - 4:30pm on a weekday, and it was quiet in there, so perhaps that's a good time to ensure you get swift and dedicated service?

I'm definitely returning in the next few days to purchase my chosen pram - thanks to it being a run-out colour, it's even cheaper than buying online... now you don't see that every day!

A workmate introduced me to this restaurant, and damn it's good! She swears by their wonton soup, and I've tried the laksa and Hainan chicken, and couldn't fault either dish. My husband also loved their seafood combo on rice. Service is quick and friendly - I think this might be our new lunchtime favourite!

Approximate cost: $10

This review is for Chung Vinh Phat Asian Groceries, Geelong VIC

verified email - 04 Jul 2013

I think this is the best Asian grocer in town - they always have exactly what I'm after, but it can sometimes take a bit of a hunt to find it!

They mainly stock Chinese items, but they also have Japanese, Indonesian, Singaporean and Korean foodstuffs. It's the only place in Geelong I think you can find kimchi, and they have a good range of Chinese frozen dumplings too (around $8-9 a bag, so a bit more expensive than you'd find on Victoria St in Richmond). Not a great deal of fresh produce. Cash only, too.

This review is for Lorm Thai, South Geelong VIC

verified email - 04 Jul 2013

We ate here last night after our 'regular' Thai restaurant closed down. I was a little apprehensive seeing as I had read mixed reviews about Lorm Thai, but we gave it a whirl anyway.

While we had no problems with the service, we noticed some other tables struggled to get the waitress' attention to place their orders. There was only one waitress dealing with walk-in takeaway orders, phone orders, plus the eat-in patrons, and the phone was ringing off the hook so she didn't make it to our tables all that often.

The food was delicious though, and came out mighty quickly! My husband had the pad see ew, and I had pad gra prow with coconut rice. I asked for medium spiciness, and it was definitely a medium, possibly bordering on a hot for some people! Plus extra chilli flakes on the side. Hubby's beer was a tad flat, but I can't imagine they sell a whole lot of Lao beer so it may have been sitting around a while. We'd definitely return, and probably at the same earlier time of 5:30pm before they start getting busier.

Approximate cost: $16-20
