On my visit here I tried the meat pie. My meat pie had a good firm base with a perfect light and flakey top, the filling had plenty of flavour but was missing something I couldn't quite put my finger on... all in all though a good pie and great value for money. Friendly and helpful staff.

In the last 2 weeks this bakery has declined... They have won awards for their pies and I could understand why and until yesterday I was a regular customer. 2 weeks ago they would have received 5 stars for their amazing chunky beef and gravy pie, however something changed a week ago! 1 week ago I was excited about purchasing my usual order of the above pie, my mouth watered at the thought of the rich gravy and tender chunks of beef, then I bit into a watery flavourless pie with pastry that was not fully cooked, I was gutted. After soo many amazing pies I decided it might be an isolated incident and gave them another try yesterday. Yesterday's pie was nowhere near as bad as last week but still not upto their usual standards. This time the pastry was cooked well, the steak was tender and it had a good flavour but still missing the rich flavours I expect from this bakery. I will give them some time to sort out what went wrong and try them one more time... I really hope they get back to the award winning quality and flavour I had grown accustomed to at this bakery.

Today I had the hamburger... I was extremely disappointed to receive a burger prepared from a 1cm thick frozen flavourless meat pattie, basic salad, rubbery onion and BBQ sauce served on a dry bun... I detest McDonalds but this burger was actually worse and cost twice the price. This cafe was fantastic years ago but something has definitely changed... will not be back!

This morning I had the Eggs Benedict and a Latte. The Eggs Benedict came served on perfectly toasted Turkish bread that was still light and fresh in the centre, the Eggs were almost perfectly poached (just a few seconds short of perfect). I felt that there was a little too much ham throwing out the balance of flavours... the Hollandaise sauce was a beautiful texture with a smooth creamy finish but fell a little short on that essential zesty tang. An unusual difference in the recipe was the spring onion garnish that overpowered the other flavours, a bold move that just didn't quite work with the dish. Overall though I was very satisfied with my meal.

My Latte was creamy and smooth, would have liked it a little stronger.

The service was fantastic and friendly.

Absolutely amazing, I had the plain steak with gravy... great big pie, full of tender melt in your mouth chunks of steak, plenty of flavour. The customer service is fantastic and friendly... you must try this place before leaving Cairns!

Today I had the Lamb Chettinadu (ordered hot) with steamed rice and Garlic Naan washed down with a glass of Mango Lassi. My Chettinadu was at best "Australian hot" which is not what I expect when I go to an "Indian Restaurant" however the flavours were spot on and all-in-all a very enjoyable meal... The staff assure me that if I ask for "Indian hot" in the future I will get it. The Garlic Naan was cooked to perfection and the rice beautifully fluffy and light.

Tonight I had the house's signature dish "Chicken Parmigiana" served with a choice of salad and chips or veggies and mash or chips. I went with veggies and chips. The Parmigiana is made in house with their own special crumb and sauce recipes. My Parmigiana was absolutely delightful, made from a large RSPCA approved chicken breast coated in the houses crumb, delivering a fantastic outer crunch that encases a juicy chicken centre, the in house napoli sauce was a marvellous compliment to the chicken, deliver a full but not overbearing flavour and topped with the perfect amount of cheese. The chips were some of the best I have had to date cooked to that perfect outer crunch and soft centre. The veggies were unique and a great compliment to the dish offering a good mix of stir fried seasonal veg. I must say I was astounded at the high quality combined with very generous portions at an extremely reasonable price. The Licencees are very friendly and helpful, providing great service with a smile. While your there, grab a cold beer in the inviting atmosphere of the public bar, top up your food and general convienience items in the attached store.

Today I had the slow braised steak and guiness pie served with a side of creamy mashed potato and veg. The flavours were amazing and the steak fell apart in your mouth although slightly dry. Will definitely be back again.

Staff recommendation was the rissoles... Described as home made and one of the staff members favourites. The flavour was a fantastic balance of herbs but I am afraid that is about the best thing I can say about them. They were dry and biting into eggshell was not very pleasant. The veggies were stir fried in a butter sauce but nothing too special. Good value for money if you want a cheap meal, but not impressive enough for me to return in the foreseeable future.

For main course today I had the Rump (medium) served with Dianne sauce, chips & salad. The rump was cooked to perfection, a perfect medium that melted in the mouth. The salad was missing a little colour and consisted of plenty of coral lettuce and a small amount of red onion, capsicum and cherry tomato, however the dressing was a fantastic mix of sweet with a tang, I would have loved just a little more dressing. So far we were looking at 4 to 4.5 stars for main, but then came dessert which pushed the total score to 5 stars.

For dessert I had the Tiramisu (made on site) served with cream and ice cream. What a fantastic flavour explosion of rich coffee flavour with a smooth creamy polish and sweet biscuit base.

I can't stress enough, save room for dessert when you dine here, you should not leave before complimented your dinner with the home made desserts.
