This review is for Mahsuri Satay Restaurant , Victoria Park WA

The Mahsuri Satay House in Victoria Park, WA has been a favourite Malaysian/Indonesian restaurant of mine for many, many years. The satay and rendang are especially delicious.

My brother and his family were recently visiting Perth, and I suggested we go to Mahsuri for dinner. My brother and his family also love this kind of Asian food. I am sad to say it was a shock and a disappointment. I was quite embarrassed. My nephew's soup was barely warm. The satay was no where near as it always used to be, and the other meals were not hot and did not seem freshly made.

On a positive note, the staff were totally understanding and tried their best to have the errors corrected. They also did not charge us for the substandard dishes. They were courteous and polite and very accommodating. I was so surprised, I asked the staff if the restaurant had changed hands. It was the only possible explanation I could think of. That was it. After many, many years in the ownership of the same family, we were told that Mahsuri had changed ownership just a month or two prior.

I love this restaurant so much, I will be returning there very soon to see if the new owners have settled in and if the food is anywhere near back up to the standard I have long been accustomed too. I truly hope so, and I hope I can write another review, praising one of my favourite local restaurants again. I would much rather offer praise than complaint.

Approximate cost: $20
