This review is for Pedro's Pizza Cafe and Bar, Watsonia VIC

My hubby has been going to Pedro's for about 20 years and he swears by "The Godfather" pizza! The owner is friendly and chatty, the vegetarian pizza is okay. Their strength seems more in the meat pizzas. The Godfather has marinated peppers is pretty hot/spicy, but is apparently a must-have if you go there! :-)

A friend and myself popped into VicGardens S/C on our way back home from a day out, and headed straight for Schnitz. Not all Schnitz's are created equal, but this location does a great job. I had the Vegetarian Schnitz "Garden of Eden" which is chocked full of goodness - it's so huge it hardly fits in your mouth! Delicious though, and a lot of fun for a vegetarian who hardly ever gets to eat something like this! My friend got the Chicken Schnitz Staus Quo with added pickles and loved it, too. We ordered a large chips between us and I think it came to about $29, which is pretty good for huge rolls and chips. Try them when you have a hankering for a hearty meal!

Just went here for a friends birthday, and although it was a great night, the place is much more of a bar/nightclub than a place to catchup with friends. The DJ was tucked in one corner cranking up catchy tunes pretty loud - perfect for those shaking off the stresses of the workweek - but unfortunate for those who actually want to converse without shouting. The meat eaters all said the Chinese and Mexican tapas-style food was delicious. Only chips and mushroom dumplings for the token vegetarian (me), so not a spot for veggies to catch up. Fun atmosphere though.

This review is for Mehek Indian Restaurant, Greensborough VIC

This is a decent little Indian place. It's nothing to look at, more for take-away than dine in. The food flavour lands squarely in "okay" - and the prices are in line with the flavour. We just had the Mutter Paneer (cheese in a tomato-y sauce) and the Aloo Mutter (Potato and pea) and they were okay. The owners seem nice, so it's always good to support a local if you can.

This review is for Curry Charmers, Watsonia VIC

I just grabbed two curries take-away from Curry Charmers a couple of nights ago. The place has clearly changed hands, it looks visibly different and when I picked up my order, the chef confirmed he has been there for about a year. I ordered the Aloo Matter and Paneer makhani (not exactly that name, but it was like that) and both curries were OK. Not a whole lot of flavour and the mild spice I requested was more like medium (but that can vary from person to person I realize). Pretty standard I'd say, but the chef seemed really nice and took a moment to smile and say "enjoy your meal" after I paid, which is a nice gesture. I'll give them another try and dine in next time.... :)

This review is for Cafe Fez, Myrtleford VIC

We were a bit hungry while in transit to get to Bright Victoria last week, so we stopped at Cafe Fez for a bite to eat. Hubby got the Lebanese Falafel Wrap ($10) and I got a winter soup special (can't remember the price, but it was like $12 or something). The falafels in hubby's wrap were so moist & huge - lots of tzatziki and spreads in there, too - great value and tasty. My soup was okay, nothing special but nice on a cold day. The Cafe is part of a larger building / business which sells small to huge middle eastern / Asian items - which is lots of fun to wander around in. If you stop in for lunch - get the falafel!!! This review is for Milawa Cheese Company, Milawa VIC

Every time my hubby and I trek up to Bright or the surrounding area, we *must* go to the Milawa Cheese Company!! Just last week we were heading to Bright (again), and we stopped in and did a cheese tasting (I love that!!!!). We were both bowled over by the Goats Cheeses - Mt Buffalo Blue and the Brie - tangy, strong and delicious! They've also got a great cafe that serves yummy pies (didn't get any that day though), lots of great little souvenirs and nick-knacks from the area. A definite MUST VISIT if you're ever in the area!

I recently visited Bright, Victoria - and my hubby was a little peckish one evening, and since Myrtleford is pretty close - we decided to grab a pizza for him one night. He ordered a Small Capriciosa ($12), and hubby went to pay by card (we didn't have any cash on us), and lovely young server said their EFTPOS minimum was $15 (or $20, I can't remember). But she immediately smiled and said, hold on let me check - and she asked (what appeared to be her father and business owner) if it was okay for us to order and pay with EFTPOS without hitting the minimum and he quickly said, "Yes of course!" That was pretty nice given he didn't have to say yes, and we appreciated that display of good customer service. The pizza was very yummy - chocked full of toppings and the base was well cooked. Definitely worth a try if you like Aussie-style pizzas after a long day of holidaying! ha! :)

Met a friend here for a coffee and lunch, the coffee was pretty good (double shows are standard) and the food was 'good'. I had a veg wrap and my friend had a salmon salad. Both meals were fine but nothing incredibly new for the taste buds. In saying that I'd happily go back to catch up with friends for a coffee and try something else on the menu. Environment was chill, good seats to hang out in, no pressure from anyone to leave - so ideal catch up spot and much needed in the area.
