This review is for Tin Pot Cafe, Fitzroy North VIC

We're new to Fitzroy North from Brisbane and wandered into this little gem just to get out of the cold. It has some nice spots to look out at the street so we could watch the people without freezing! The waitress wasn't fantastic but the food was amazing! Being from Brizzy we were stoked with the menu because it was all different from our usual cafes; lamb's pie, winter soup... it was delish, very Victorian flavors. I've been back three other times now... each time the food was great, esp. on the weekend when the better chef is making breakfast. The Salmon Florentine is perfect. The stewed fruit (another thing you never see in Briz) is a must do... rhubarb and poached pears with amazingly fresh strawberries... I could go on! The service is sometimes great sometimes crap... once we got up and left because they took to long to bring our menu's. I'm definitely going to make myself a regular even so.

Approximate cost: $12

This review is for Dr Nicholas Baker, Greenslopes QLD

We went to Nicholas because of the recommendation l saw here on Word of Month. My daughter (9) Was very scared of dentists and had many bad experiences. But she loves these guys. She got upset when she thought I was looking for a new dentist. l can't explain why but they do have a nack for putting kids at ease. I've been able to change appointments at last minute without recieving attitude or a 'fine' which some dentist do. They fit her in on an emergency because one of her teeth felt too high and was irritating her. I can always get afternoon appointments to fit around school times. They let me sit with her and hold her hand etc.

This review is for SouthBank Cinemas, Cineplex, South Brisbane QLD

These Cineama's are the best in the CBD for sure, especially for value. BUT... I've been treated like a disobedient child when unsure where to go. Instead of helpful and polite guidance we've been rudely and embarassing 'told off' and even been tsked at by door staff because we didn't hold our ticket the right way for him to take it. It's enough to put you off and pay extra to be treated with respect. Their sister cinema out at Balmoral however is just the opposite. The staff are FABULOUS and friendly and the old world opulent cinema atmosphere really transports you back in time. I live in the city and drive the extra mile to Balmoral for a better night out at the movies,

This review is for Three Monkeys Coffee & Tea House, West End QLD

This place is like a national secret. From the outside it looks very bland but when you go in... it's an Aladidn's cave! There's a special little spot for everybody's personal idea of a great coffee house experience. Dark Corners for reading poetry, outdoor french provincial settings, room for one high speed wireless spots: you can choose the crowded front room or hide away in a cloud of coffee bliss.

Approximate cost: $12-$16

I am a fan of the Gun Shop. It's cosy and atmospheric with dining that you'd have a very hard time recreating at home (which is my personal rating system when it comes to resturants).

Approximate cost: $20-$30?
