Make sure you ask for a table outside on the enclosed footpath, far more space, airy yet heated and less cramped. All in all a great Turkish experience and one worth trying again!

Approximate cost: $25

My husband and I, daughter and another couple dined here mid-week. We were the first customers to arrive at 6pm and they greeted us promptly, went through the menu, discussed the cuisine and chef and were very helpful and friendly.

Approximate cost: $20

It's been recently renovated, and made into more of a large European style eatery. It's opened it up considerably, a great improvement. Loved all the food, fresh salads and yummy cakes, coffees/teas are great, and now there bar is situated in a large island in the centre of the large eatery. Great for a snack anytime or a meal, or merely a catch-up with friends before or after the movies.

I am a regular here - have sampled many things, drinks, cakes, baguettes, icecreams. All in all it's a great place to have a snack at and also the back area is great for a large group catch-up or a quiet read the paper coffee. The front seating is great to watch the Church Street traffic go by especially in summer. When Tam is on, he makes great coffees and chais and he runs a tight ship with his staff. Wish I sometimes had more time to go there! Keep up the good work guys! The cakes are works of art!

This review is for Cafe de Cuba, Elwood VIC

My husband and I and another couple dined at his cafe/restaurant on Saturday night and found it to be pretty average in most areas. We all had some dips with pita as an entree - there was only three tiny splodges of bought dips on the plate and miserly diagonal slices of thin pita which were not very appetizing and not enough for three adults. We all had different mains, I had the chicken tagine which was very disappointing and heavily salted with about half a tin of green olives in it. I drank water as if it was going out of style. The chicken ended up being two tiny boiled pieces swimming in a sea of broth and salty spices/couscous. As for our friends, no one remarked on how good their meals were so I guess they were pretty average and in need of improvement also. Two people had desserts. The Irish Coffee cake apparently was delicious but far too rich to finish! As for the Lemon tart, it was so tartish that my husband had acid reflux all night and had difficulty in sleeping on three pillows!! I was looking forward to the chai coffee but sadly that also disappointed me. It was large and milky, but there was far too much cinammon splattered on the top of it, and this made it very difficult to drink as well as breathe. All in all, unless they improve, I'd give it a miss and try one of the other eateries around the corner....sorry!!

This review is for France-Soir, South Yarra VIC

I went to France Soir with my husband and daughter for my birthday in June this year. I had heard about it for yonks, and as I speak French I thought It a good place to go to celebrate. Also because we had been to France in 07 for a lengthy stay. I found it to be typically French yet situated Downunder. The same arrogance of the waiting staff.....they must have taken lessons from the Parisien restaurants! FSoir is a place to be seen at. We were surrounded by models posing, or trendy rich middle-aged folk as well as those who remembered Edith Piaf as their peer. We sat under the nauseating photo of FSoir's owner and Ron Wood and Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones....name dropping oops! All in all it was an experience......the wine list read like the White Pages and some of the prices.....OMG!!

This review is for Martin St Cafe & Providore, Brighton VIC

My friend and I walked the length of Martin St looking in each window of the many cafes. We decided upon MSC&P and were NOT disappointed. It was homey, well-serviced and definitely a delicious experience, one we will definitely revisit again and again. The staff were charming, as was the owner. I am a Tertiary Lecturer in Customer Service and have been for many years, so this "newby" of a cafe deserves to be around for a long time to come. Keep up the good work!
