This review is for The Twoks, Melbourne VIC

The Twoks performed at our wedding recently and were BRILLIANT! My husband and I have seen them perform before, and were keen for them to perform some of their original stuff. They also offered to perform some covers of our choice, and the covers were fantastic. Despite being a 2 piece band they created fabulous sound and were able to perform songs I didn't think possible for 2 instruments! They also took on the role of master of ceremonies. They were extremely entertaining and original, almost every guest commented on how great they were, asked how we found them, etc. I wasn't sure about having a band at our wedding as I wasn't sure we needed it (as we were sticking to a pretty tight budget) but I am SO glad we had them, it was absolutely worth it! Looking back I think our wedding would have been missing something without them.

We looked at a lot of wedding venues before we settled with the Como Melbourne. The Hotel is beautiful, the moment you walk in it exudes elegance which is exactly what we wanted for our wedding. The best thing about having our wedding at the Como was our events coordinator Jade. She was amazing, so helpful, so organised, I felt like she actually cared about my wedding and it wasn't just her job! For our wedding we chose a cocktail function because we wanted an atmosphere where people could mingle and socialise. I wasn't sure how the room would look because when we first saw it, it was just a big conference room, but they brought in lounge furniture, lighting, candles, floral arrangements and high bar tables which made the space look like a high-end cocktail bar. I was concerned that people might go hungry but I should never have worried, there was so much food and it was DELICIOUS! Lots of people commented on the quality of the food they ate. They catered to vegetarians and people who had other dietary requirements (which is quite difficult to do in a cocktail funciton but they still managed). They cut and boxed our cake at no additional charge, they customized our beverage package because my husband loves craft beers and wanted more variety, there is nothing more they could have done to satisfy our needs, the night was PERFECT! We also loved our 2 nights stay, the bridal suite was very luxurious, and they threw in lots of extra touches like a champagne breakfast and champagne and beer for our bridal party prior to the reception. I couldn't recommend the Como more highly.

Chris was a dream to work with, she was so helpful. I was a very indecisive bride, I changed my mind a million times, but she was very patient. The final product looked a million dollars, which was my main priority. I wanted my cake to look fantastic and impressive and it did. The mud cake was delicious, very rich, almost like brownie! The only issue was that it was going to originally be choc mint, but I couldn't taste the mint. It was probably for the best because everyone LOVED the mud. I would definitely recommend Montease to anyone who wants a cake that impresses.

Having just been married I have dealt with lots of various vendors over the past few months. All have delighted me EXCEPT for Formal Wear of Melbourne. My husband and his groomsmen hired their suits from Formal Wear of Melbourne. Our first visit, they were helpful, but a bit pushy; every suggestion he made, they would shut down saying to him "That wouldn't look good, we won't put out colour schemes that don't look good because it will spoil our reputation"

Ok fair enough...

Our next visit, they notified us 2 days prior that they wanted the entire grooms party to attend a fitting together so they could take photos and make sure it all looked right. The date they asked us to come in was 2 days before our wedding. Kind of a busy time for everyone!

Then to top everything off. When we finally picked up their suits, the grooms suit didn't fit and had pen marks all over it. One of the groomsmen's suits also didn't fit, so they said they would order another in.

When we picked the last items up on the day, they had given one of the groomsmen a WHITE vest instead of black. As a result, in all of my wedding photos, it looks like there are 2 grooms because all of the groomsmen are in black vests, then the groom and one groomsman are in white. They have ruined our wedding photos which are worth 1000's of dollars. Quite frankly, Formal Wear of Melbourne are lucky I'm not sueing them for this cost.

When my mum went to see them to drop off my father's suit, they hardly apologized, stating that the mix up was because the groomsmen had put on weight, (in fact, the original vest he tried on was MILES too BIG, not too small!).

Stop with the excuses, apologize for your mistakes and rectify the problem in any way you can. These are the BASIC principles of customer service.

Appalling.

Approximate cost: $400 per suit. And yes, we were still charged for the suit that they stuffed up.

I was running low on my budget and looking for hair and makeup that wouldn't cost me a fortune. I have had my make-up and hair professionally done before and the job that Hayley did on both my bridal hair and makeup was absolutely perfect, better then what I had at one of the "big" makeup places back when I turned 21. It certainly did not look like a "budget look", myself and my four bridesmaids all looked perfect, she even helped my mum finish off her hair off as a favour to me. I couldn't recommend Hayley (and her assistant) more highly!

Approximate cost: $50 - makeup $70-100 hair up

My wedding flowers (bouquets and table arrangements) were absolutely magnificent. They looked wonderful and lasted all day. In fact, they're still lasting 3 days later in vases! My bridal bouquet even survived the toss without even a petal falling off. Julie is a true professional, couldn't recommend her more highly.

Approximate cost: $700 for 5 bouquets + 2 flowergirl balls

I bought my wedding dress at an off-the-rack sale and needed it altered so that it would fit perfectly. My dress was absolutely beautiful on the day, I felt like a princess. She was a true perfectionist in making sure the dress was tailored to me and I really appreciated her attention to detail. She also made my lovely veil which sat perfectly,

Based on prior reviews it would seem this place has gone downhill of late. I went in today and was immediately horrified to notice that their menu stated "Cash only". How many cafes out there are arrogant enough to place such an unreasonable expectation on their customers? I mean, its 2012, seriously. I understand limiting the amount one can spend on their card, as its inconvenient to have everyone putting their take-away coffee order on EFT, but I think when I've spent $30 at your business, the least you can do is provide me the opportunity to pay with card, particularly when there are no ATMs on the shopping strip at all. As I had come unprepared for this (as I'd imagine many would) I had to borrow money off a friend which I felt quite embarrassed about, but didn't exactly have a choice when there was no way for me to pay or get money out. I find this shows a real lack of consideration for your customers Snow Pony.

The experience didn't get much better, it took about 20 minutes for a waitress to take my coffee order and the wait staff weren't exactly friendly.

The food was ok, nothing so amazing that I couldn't go to one of the other thousands of cafes in Melbourne (the majority of which accept eftpos) and get something similar.

Very disappointed as I have heard such rave reviews about this place. Clearly another trendy fad cafe that will fade out soon enough.

Went to Barclays today, the food was very yummy. I little bit expensive for breakfast, but I like how they have a lot of options. They were also very quick and attentive considering how busy they were. I wouldn't recommend the hashbrowns, they're the "fancy" sort of hash browns that make you wish cafes would just do normal boring but delicious hashbrowns.
