Two words, BOGAN BURGER. An absolutely massive burger for $15.50, awesome value. The burger comes with a good serve of homemade wedges and a nice little salad.

Unlike after eating Maccas, I didn't have that coating of grease in my mouth afterwards, dare I say it is probably actually better for you, as this burger had a proper steak and chicken schnitzel, not a processed patty.

The pub itself is a nice and relaxed place, with a little beer garden around the back where you can enjoy your meal.

I tried the "Big Heavenly Burger Challenge" ($26) when I visited which involved eating a double burger weighing 1kg and 600g of chips. It was an awesome burger but sadly I couldn't take the time to enjoy it as I was trying to finish the lot in under an hour to get my name on the wall!

Yes, I did finish it all but failed my goal of sub-30mins, clocking in at 38 mins

Approximate cost: $15/burger

Though not a "fast food" place you will definitely receive your food faster than if you were at Maccas or anywhere else, you will never wait for longer than one minute to receive your order. More importantly the food is good quality. I come here once in a while for lunch when I'm working and it is a huge plus that I don't have to spend a good chunk of my break waiting for the food.

This restaurant was my first taste of Ethiopian food. The waitress was very friendly and helped us to order. The food was very nice and it was an enjoyable experience eating without cutlery, instead using the Injera bread to pick up the food to eat. There is a selection of beers imported directly from Ethiopia to go with your meal as well, I tried the St George and the Harar. Ordering one dish per person was more than enough for the 5 people at our table with plenty of bread being provided to us to accompany the dishes.

Approximate cost: $10/meat dish

Without a doubt my favourite kebab place in Melbourne. The bread is made on the premises in a woodfired oven, as are the large variety of dips. Large kebab $6, or an open kebab on a plate with a basket of still warm bread $10. You can buy just the bread to take home if you want as well as I have done a number of times. I make the trip from Doncaster to Preston to come to this place.

Come during the right time and the value is unbeatable, grab two pizzas and eat like a king for under $10.

I have tried a decent amount of the menu and they have always hit the spot. If you enjoy a bit of bacon get the Caesar Salad pizza.

Two reasons why I like this place:

1. It is tucked away in a sneaky strip of shops off a main road.
2. It is an old fashioned fish and chip shop, not one of those wanky new-age ones which try to glam up simple and honest food.

When I first heard this place had the best chips in Melbourne I was slightly skeptical, but once I made the trip and tried them I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. They are cut nice and chunky and are crisp on the outside and light and flufly on the inside, every time I have been they have never disappointed.

Grab a flake and chips and eat them in the nearby park down the road.

Repeatedly being voted among Melbourne's best burger joints by various newspapers and websites, personally this would have to be my favourite. There are many people who would think otherwise, but the realitively central location compared to other contenders and the fact that it will be open at an hour of the day or night make it a winner. A burger with the lot and chips will set you back around $9.

I have been more times sober than drunk and I can say with my hand on my heart that is is equally as good when you're smashed as when you're sober. I have literally made the trip across town to this place a number of times and it did not disappoint.

The constant business is a good sign here and on the occasions I have visited the food did not disappoint. The lunch packs are very good value if you're visiting before 4pm. The souvlakis are as genuine as you can get from a fish and chip shop with the meat (lamb and chicken) being cooked on a spit over charcoal.

The bakery is amazing value for money, and more importantly is authentic. You will eat very well for less than $8-9, you can take-away or there is a dining area at the front. The store is more than a bakery and also stocks Lebanese groceries and has a deli selling olives, coffee, yoghurt etc. Staff are friendly and helpful.
