This review is for Casey Dental Group, Narre Warren VIC

verified email - 07 Nov 2013

I have attended Casey Dental Group for many years now (they were previously called Webb Street Dental and were located in Webb Street Narre Warren).

They are not overly cheap, but no dentist is! Their prices are fairly reasonable - approx. what you'd expect from any decent dentist.

They have a few dentists on shift at any given time, as they seem to be quite busy. The dentist I see at casey dental Group is absolutely fantastic. He is highly professional, clean, polite, compassionate, understanding, and he always does a good job. He is very particular and doesn't take "short cuts". He prides himself on doing the job well and proper.

Their new building in Narre Warren South is a lot bigger than the previous building in Webb Street, and a lot more modern too. They offer a nice clean and comfortable waiting area, with new couches to sit on, magazines to read, a tv to watch, and water to drink. The toilets and dentists rooms are always very clean.

The receptionists are always friendly and polite, as are the dentist assistants.

They run a well-organised clinic, with reminder messages sent the day prior to your appointment, and a phone call if you are late or if the dentist is going to be running late or unavailable for your appointment.

This review is for Cafe 127, Pakenham VIC

Café 127 is located on Main street, Pakenham. It is a small café, but nicely set up. You can either dine inside or outside on the small tables along the footpath. The café is air-conditioned, which is nice during the warmer months.
The staff are friendly and polite.
The food is fairly nice - nothing overly outstanding (by my opinion). Their coffee is good though.
Parking along Main st can be quite hectic so you may have to park elsewhere and then walk to Main street.

This review is for Pakenham Variety, Pakenham VIC

verified email - 06 Nov 2013

This is a common (Asian) variety store, similar to a $2-Shop or Reject Shop.
They stock a variety of cheap bits and pieces.
Their prices are what you would expect from a cheap variety store.
It is fairly neat and tidy (whereas some variety stores can be quite cluttered and messy).
I often go to Pakenham Variety (sign outside says "Easy Variety") to buy storage containers, wrapping paper, crafts to keep the kids busy, and occasionally for a gift.
Parking on Main street can be hectic, so you sometimes have to park elsewhere and walk to Main street, which is a pain.

This review is for Thao Thao Vietnamese Restaurant, Hampton Park VIC

verified email - 06 Nov 2013

I found Thao Thao Vietnamese restaurant after moving to Narre Warren and not wanting to drive all the way to Springvale to get decent Vietnamese take-away!
Thao thao Vietnamese restaurant is a really nice looking restaurant - very modern and very clean. The staff are very professional and friendly and polite. You can see by watching them that they take their job seriously and they are striving for their restaurant to succeed.
The food is ABSOLUTELY LOVELY. I always found the food fresh, perfectly cooked, of a good size, and nicely displayed on the plate.
They provide high chairs for the little ones, and it's nice to eat in an Asian restaurant where the highchairs are really clean!
Their prices are not overly cheap - definitely not like Springvale prices, but the quality of the food makes up for it.
This Vietnamese restaurant is slightly more westernised compared to those at Springvale, as I guess they're catering more to the Australian public.
They offer a take away service, but I don't believe they offer a home delivery service.

This review is for Dao Vien Restaurant, Springvale VIC

verified email - 06 Nov 2013

I LOVE Dao Vien Restaurant. Their food is fresh and tasty and of good quality. The service is as to be expected - I'm Australian and my husband is Vietnamese so I notice that the service he gets is better than what I get! But I assume it simply comes down to the language barrier and nothing else, because the staff there always try to be friendly and polite to me but just cannot converse with me the way they do with my husband.
We regularly buy the Broken Rice dish at Dao Vien (a common Vietnamese dish). Almost every Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant in Springvale sell this dish, but the one at Dao Vien definitely stands out against the others. It is always cooked perfectly - not undercooked, not overcooked, perfect seasoning on the meat, prefect balance of spices/ingredients in the meat pate', and their fish sauce is nicely balanced also.
Their prices are very reasonable - that's why we buy so much take-away from them! A dish of broken rice, which includes a plate of plain rice, fried pork chop, slice of meat pate, fried egg, and a side dish of (I thinks it is) rice noodles mixed together with little strips of pork meat, costs approx. $8.00.
They also offer a good range of specialty drinks, at approx. $3.50 each.
The only negative is trying to get a park nearby the restaurant, as it is always so busy.
We don't eat in the restaurant often. It is only a very small restaurant, and not overly fancy. It is quite simple with just tables and cheap chairs, but the food makes up for the poor interior decoration!

This review is for Norm's Main St Meats, Pakenham VIC

verified email - 06 Nov 2013

Norm's Main St Meats is only a little butcher but their meat is lovely and fresh and they have some fairly good sales on from time to time.
The first time I went to this butcher was because they were advertising chicken breast fillets at $5.99kg, which is a fantastic price. They often advertise the chicken breast fillets between $5.99-$7.99, depending on what week it is, and the breast fillets are always lovely and fresh, and freeze well and cook well.
The service is very good. The boys behind the counter are very helpful and friendly, and always offer advice when needed (re how to cook a certain cut of meat, etc).
Parking on Main st can be quite hectic so you sometimes have to park elsewhere and walk to Main st.

This review is for Pakenham News & Tatts Pty Ltd, Pakenham VIC

verified email - 06 Nov 2013

Pakenham News & Tatts on Main st is quite a large newsagency and offers a lot.
It offers all the usual tatts services but they also sell ALOT of different office supplies and toys, books, stuffed toys, games, magazines, books, etc.
They have a lot of kids toys and teddies, which my kids love. I often go there to buy gifts.
They are not overly cheap when it comes to the toys, games, stuffed teddies, etc but the variety and quality of their stock is great.
The service is good. If they are busy they will always have more than one register open.
However, the parking on Main street can be quite busy so you sometimes have to park elsewhere and walk to Main st, which is a pain.
They sometimes have sales on their toys, teddies, games, which reduces the price in quite a big way.

This review is for Pakenham Fish & Chips, Pakenham VIC

verified email - 06 Nov 2013

Pakenham Fish and Chips is the best Fish & Chip shop in Pakenham.
The fish is beautiful, the chips are lovely. They clearly don't use a cheap oil or an old oil to cook the food.
The service is great. The staff are always friendly and efficient.
A very well run fish and chip shop.
After moving from Narre Warren to Pakenham I tried a few fish and chip shops prior to Pakenham Fish and Chips, and this shop definitely stood out above the rest.

This review is for Pakenham Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Market, Pakenham VIC

verified email - 06 Nov 2013

I first went to Pakenham Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Market because there was a sign outside advertising fresh local produce. So I thought it would be a good idea to buy our fruit and veg from them instead of the normal big supermarket chains (ie. Coles or Safeway). I thought because it was local produce it would be a lot fresher than the fruit and veg at the supermarket, but I was wrong.
I was quite disappointed to find that their fruit and veg isn't overly fresh, and doesn't appear any fresher than that at the big supermarkets. I found the corn and carrots especially went off very quickly, and their potatoes weren't fantastic either. Sometimes their fruit and veg is lovely, and sometimes it isn't. The quality is very similar to that of the big supermarkets, so I was quite disappointed.
The prices are also very similar to that of the big supermarkets, which also disappointed me. I was hoping it would be cheaper than the big supermarkets.
I still shop at Pakenham Fruit & Vegetable Market if I'm in a hurry and don't have time to go to the supermarket, but I look closely at the stock first.
It's a real shame because it would've been really nice to find a shop that stocks FRESH local produce.
The staff are friendly, and there is always parking available on site, and you rarely have to wait in line at the register, so if you're in a hurry it's a good place to shop.

This review is for Chocolates & Lollies, Pakenham VIC

verified email - 05 Nov 2013

Visited this small lolly & chocolate shop in Main Street, Pakenham after winning a gift voucher at a Xmas party. The kids loved looking at the various lollies and chocolates. They had a decent variety, and the quality of the items we bought were satisfactory. I personally like more higher class/quality chocolates, but if you like the common lollies and chocolates, then this is the shop for you. They have a good variety and the customer service was good. The owner was polite and friendly, and spoke nicely to the kids. I especially liked the variety of little cupcake decorations, and will keep it in mind for next time I need to create a batch of special cupcakes. The price of their lollies and chocolates were what you'd expect from a milk-bar or corner shop.
