This review is for Blackheath Fish Shop, Blackheath NSW

Very clean and fresh take away fish and chip shop located a few minutes away from Blackheath train station. They also serve food like burgers and thick shakes. They have the best potato scallops I've ever tasted! The fish cocktails are great as well and they are reasonably priced. Good place to stop for a feed if your up in the Blue Mountains sightseeing and need to feed hungry kids in a hurry!

Balinese and Eastern Style furniture and gift shop on King St, Newtown which has been there for many years! Have a good assortment of furnishings, tribal or silver jewellery and home wares, but can be a little pricey for the quality of some of the merchandise. You can always find something though in a store like this has they stock some very pretty merchandise like ceramics, mirrors and lanterns.

Great on line bookstore that gives you the option of saving money and waiting time for delivery and picking up your order instead. Good range of books and clearance/discounted items always on sale. Can sometimes be a little slow with back order items that aren't in stock but are great with refunds if you decide you want to cancel an order that is out of stock and hasn't arrived in due time. Postage is very reasonable as they charge per delivery, not per item.

This review is for Earlwood Lebanese Bakery, Earlwood NSW

Wonderful little traditional Lebanese bakery in Earlwood. Serving freshly made spinach triangles to things like pizza's and for the sweet tooth Lebanese sweets. Friendly service, good prices and very fresh. You can eat in or take away (very casual setting similar to that of a small take away restaurant).

This review is for St. Vincent De Paul, Newtown NSW

Second hand shop on King St, Newtown run by St. Vincent De Paul Society. Has quite a bit of clothing and bric and bracs, but in comparison to others around Sydney can be a little over priced for some items and unfortunately ever time I've been in there the shop has had this not so nice stench of what seems to be old shoes!! Not a very clean shop unfortunately which is a shame, but still worth a look if your into retro and somewhat vintage style second hand clothing!

This review is for Icon Music Tuition, West Ryde NSW

verified email - 19 May 2012

My son was attending music tutoring at Icon Music and I couldn't have been happier with his lessons and teacher (Nick Smallfield-Drums). The place is pretty small and not too flash(basically one corridoor inside with music rooms lined down one side), but apart from the aesthetics the teachers are lovely and down to earth, the prices were very reasonable and the general atmosphere was very inviting. Despite the limited space there is some seating lining the corridoor for parents to sit and wait during lessons. They have quite a few lessons running at one time and are pretty busy after school hours, so you'll need to ring and enquire about vacancies depending on what tuition your looking for.

This review is for Bondi Ink Tattoo, Bondi Beach NSW

verified email - 19 May 2012

After being to quite a few tattoo shops in and around Sydney (and have had quite a bit of tattooing done on myself), I would have to say that Bondi Ink is one of the more decently priced places as they charge a standard price for all work per the hour (some other places quote ridiculous prices and time frames for work to be completed!!). I took a relative down to have a portrait done by Mick Medusa in black/grey and couldn't have been more impressed with his finished product. He was professional and completely focused on his work and completed it within 3 hours (other places tried to quote us 6 hours at a ridiculous price). The desk staff on the day were great aswell and very accommodating and friendly. General atmosphere was lively but not over the top. Will definitely go back to have more work done. Hope they keep those standards up!!

This review is for Figures Direct, Kardinya WA

Great Action Figure On line Store which sells a really good range of figures/collectable dolls. Products and labels include Hasbro, Star Wars, McFarlane (produce music artist and music band figurines), Marvel (range includes super hero's such as Spiderman, Iron Man etc), Neca (Hollywood blockbuster film characters) and much more. Have a pretty good clearance section aswell so you can pick up a bargain. Great for buying gifts for boys or anyone who loves collecting figures and characters. I have bought figures from their website quite a few times and have been very happy with the products which are sometimes hard to find within Australia.

This review is for Le Beaute, Ryde NSW

Unisex hair salon in Top Ryde Shopping Centre. Offer good deals for combined colour/foils cut and blowdrys. Cheaper than alot of other salons. Very laid back atmosphere and the girls are friendly. As with most salons it's best to find which hairdresser is right for your hair and your happy with and then book them in for next time. Took me a couple of visits to find the hairdresser that I was completely satisfied with. Also offer waxing and spray tans at cheap prices (but i haven't tried those services as of yet!)
