Grace took all the clearly labeled boxes and furniture out of my apartment in Canberra and then moved MOST OF IT to Melbourne a week later. In the time they held my items, they managed to lose two boxes (which they said were never included in the original listing) and broke two of the chairs from my dining set. When I tried to locate where my two lost boxes were, I was told to call multiple people who just passed around my queries, never returned calls and were on occasion rude to me as well. Eventually I talked to the head of Grace Removals in Canberra and he told me that "as none of the goods were insured, there's nothing we can do about it." I understand that they were under no obligation to replace my damaged chairs as I didn't purchase the optional (and expensive!) insurance - what I don't understand is why I paid for them to pick up ALL my items, but then only deliver MOST of them! Do the removals fees (not cheap either!) NOT cover picking up, storage and delivery of ALL your items? Why should (optional) insurance be purchased just to ENSURE THEY DO THEIR JOB CORRECTLY?

I chased my 'stolen' items up with both the ACT, NSW & VIC departments of Grace, for over 3 months and did not have my items returned to me or reimbursed; I only asked for $300 reimbursement - the items weren't that expensive, but I am a student so every dollar counts. Alas they weren't interested and were mostly rude with dealing with me.

I will *NEVER* use their services again and if you value your goods and would like them transported in one piece, with none missing, then I implore you to use any other removalist! Caveat emptor! (let the buyer beware!)
