I feel people, families, with kids (like us) need to know the truth about this Company. My other review focussed on a few aspects of the build, but to illustrate how painful this has been for my family, I wilI start from the beginning. Firstly, our sales experience was good (no surprise there), then to our studio M appt, a very good interior designer who made wonderful colour selections and finishes ( some of those choices did not happen, even though we have a signed copy of this, metricon do not care). Now, for the pre site management process, SEVEN variations were made due to their incompetent staff. You would ask a question and it would take two weeks for a reply. I sent back the documents so many times, there were things added or changed without even asking, like different sized windows for example. At this point, after confirming multiple times with Metricon when to move out, we moved out into a rental and knocked our house down. We then sat for 3 months paying rent, due to delays with Metricon. Then came our next delay... our frame. Metricon did not apply for a crane permit "to save us money". This resulted in a 2 month delay. The overall cost of traffic control? $500. Honestly, when our total project is costing 1.7million, do you think we care about $500, they actually cost us $2000 in rent due to their delay. After this delay occured, I could not reach my site supervisor for 2 weeks, I messaged, left voicemails, trying to plead to please push this along as I had just had a newborn baby at this point. I could no longer deal with the anxiety and sleepness nights. Also keeping in mind they cut 40cm of our land when they built our retaining walls and their "Area Manager" told me he didnt care what emails I had (stating we wanted our walls to the boundary), and that it is irrelevant because of their engineering plans which I was not aware of or never saw. I escalated this to their Customer Care team, and they have agreed to move the side walls in, but our whole back wall is 40cm into our land and they dont want to cover the cost. I have to mention one positive is my current site supervisor. He felt like a lifeline as I finally had a staff member who answered my calls, was genuine and honest, and reliable. However, during the progress of the build I noticed timber planks under our bathroom vanities. I informed them before the tiles went on and they would have had a chance to rectify it. I looked over all my documents, emails and noticed lots of conflicting errors. Some documents had mentioned a kicker (which I had no idea what that was, so I asked their pre site management team, who assured me I was having wall hung vanities) I asked why the timber plank was there, and we had been charged the same price throughout. I was told it was structural. Then, I noticed the display home with the exact same layout had floating vanities, so it was actually not structural. We had to hire a lawyer, and still an ongoing battle. I cant rate the build quality yet as our house is not finished. However, with the stress it has caused my family, I wouldn't care if they made a house of gold, I would never, ever, recommend them to anyone. We never in a million years thought we would get to build a home, and the experience has been awful, to say the least. My kids have been disadvantaged living in a tiny rental for now 14 months. We lost our first home due to the decision to knock it down and rebuild, which we now regret. I have been so reasonable with Metricon, they delayed our build many times, with 7 variations from the start, a 2 month delay with the crane/frame issue, yet are completely inflexible and unaccomodating to their customers. Please do not go through what we have been through. It is not worth it
