Kristy came to my hotel room and did my wedding makeup. I couldn't have been happier with her skill and service. She also cut my hair the day before at her salon 'The Cut House' in North Adelaide and it was a superb cut.

She has a great range of makeup and mostly uses MAC. She made me feel really relaxed about everything, which really is saying something on your wedding day!

I had never had my makeup done professionally before and was surprised at how I looked. The photos were great. She knew exactly what she was doing.

Approximate cost: $100

I took my heirloom antique brooch here to have the clasp mended. When I went to pick it up I inspected the clasp and it looked clunky, but reasonably ok, so I payed my $20 and went merrily on my way.

When I got home I took the brooch out of the bag and saw that one of the two tiny pearls was missing! I had not inspected the front of the brooch in the store. I phoned up and he told me that he couldn't replace the pearl in time for my wedding. Four generations of my family have worn this brooch on their wedding day, so I had to wear it and have all my photos showing a brooch with the pearl missing.

He did offer to fix the brooch for free, so when I came back from my honeymoon I took it back. He put this aside for other jobs, and did it within a week, but by then it didn't matter how long it took.

When I picked it up, he had replaced it with a pearl of a different colour and size and a big goop of glue was showing around the pearl and on the gold!

I decided not to pursue this matter further with this business and will take it to another jeweller when I can get over my feelings of disappointment and guilt about ruining my family heirloom by taking it to these people.

It was really hard to find this business because they don't seem to have a web presence. We went to them for spare parts and an adjustment of our Phil & Ted's pram. They are a motor mechanic business that also fixes most kinds of prams. Go figure...

We were really happy with the price and service and will take the pram back soon to get the brakes adjusted.

What I like is that you get to talk to the tradespeople and can explain things and get information and don't have to send your pram off into the wilderness like you do at the other Sydney pram maintenance place (I won't name them, but they also sell luggage).

I had my car seat fitted and then a few months later, adjusted by a fellow from this company. I am very happy with the service he provided. Although the adjustment was a very simple thing that I probably could have done myself, he was very nice about it and didn't make me feel stupid at all. He gave me a lot of tips and lots of information for the future and in way, did himself out of a job, because we will be able to adjust it ourselves in future after he gave us this information. So I left feeling he had a lot of integrity and excellent customer service.

They also sell and hire seats and capsules. They operate in several locations, including North Shore hospital, Hornsby Hospital and The San in Wahroongah.

We used these guys for our end of lease cleaning and could not fault them at all. (Well, we got all of our bond back!)

They are reasonably priced, professional, fast and very thorough.

I really like the fact that they use earth friendly cleaning products.

I have been once and although I'm not vegetarian, I would love to take some friends. I have always been a sucker for fried beancurd skins. Well, these are available along with all sorts of yummy variations of soy products cooked in a plethora of ways. But there are heaps of other tasty things on offer - the menu has well over 100 items.
This is a vegan restaurant run by Taoists, so the they encourage no alcohol to be consumed on the premised.

I had a cut, treatment, colour and foils. My hairdresser was really great and she gave me a lot of help choosing my colour. She was really lovely and said I could bring my baby in next time so I didn't have to get a babysitter.

I found everything quite expensive though and would probably not go back because of this. But on the upside, she said that I could pop in anytime to get my fringe trimmed for free, so instead of giving a 2 for value, I have given a 3 because of this.

The other problem was that my foil colour didn't last and was almost gone within two weeks.

I did however get an excellent haircut and the experience there was all things considered, pretty good.

I'm giving this salon a 'wow' because I have had amongst my best haircuts here. I have not tried any of their other many services, but they do something I considered, which was a manicure and hand massage while you have your hair done to save you time.

My hairdresser was really talented and the others seem talented too.

A deservedly popular noodle bar in the heart of the Crows Nest restaurant strip. The chefs are visible cooking through a big glass window, so you can see how pristine clean and hygienic the preparation is. The food is excellent quality and value.

The staff are really efficient and friendly and all wear a green uniform.

I have been going here for many years. The Singapore Noodles are the best I have ever tried. They don't use the sausage, but lots of large prawns, BBQ pork, chicken and egg.

This place was recommended by a friend as one of her favourites in Crows Nest and I have been there several times since.
The food is great, varied and very good value. When you sit down you get a bowl of peanuts and some cold water while you wait. The staff are very helpful and explaining the menu.
The food seems to be an equal mix of Cantonese and Thai. But there are also a couple of other crowd pleasers mixed in like mongolian lamb and laksa. They also do wonderful Cantonese style dumplings and other Cantonese favourites along with a BBQ bar. There are very interesting specials on the specials board, which are explained in English (a real bonus). There are very well priced lunch specials on a special lunch menu.

They have recently started doing free home delivery. Thank goodness we will know who to phone next time we are too tired to cook or shop.

I often judge a place that does Chinese food by their wonton noodle soup and the version here is a real winner. The wontons are lovely and fresh with plump little prawns and are just as they should be.

I can't wait to try more of this menu.
