Dr Petris was a god-send to my birthing experience. I attended Sandringham Hospital as a public patient throughout my pregnancy, resulting in being scheduled for an induction. By the time Dr Petris had come on shift as attending Obstetrician, I had hit panic mode after feeling something was going wrong and watching other staff members concerned faces as they watched the fetal monitor and had whispered discussions.
Dr Petris brought such a sense of calm and confidence to the situation. He assessed the monitor results and talked me through the potential issues I was experiencing, and the options open to me. I had been determined to not have a Caesarean, but when Dr Petris recommended it was the best course of action to ensure safe delivery of my unborn son, I trusted him so implicitly that I agreed immediately, without any question.
Once in the operating theatre, I again found myself panicking, only to be so quickly reassured and calmed by Dr Petris.
Dr Mark Petris has a "bed-side manner" that supercedes any I've ever encountered. He is warm and disarming, explaining complex medical processes in plain english, and showing genuine concern for the well-being and comfort of his patients.
When we decide to have our 2nd child, I will be seeking out Dr Petris to not only deliver my child, but this time, to also manage the care of my pregnancy.
