This review is for Cheeky Czech, Newtown NSW

The cheeky Czech is a small eatery/restaurant serving up great czech food. It has a fairly low-key/basic set-up. I had a duck dish, my fellow diner a rabbit dish and both were very large (we both struggled to finish our plates) and tasty.

A great little European beer cafe & restaurant on Glebe Point Rd. Have been a couple of times just for beers- a great variety of beers on offer & the staff have always been very friendly. I didn't try a main meal- but the meals on the table next door looked great

This review is for Soffritto, Newtown NSW

Soffritto is a small restaurant serving amazing food! The duck & sage tortellini is fantastic! The price is very reasonable for the quality of food (3 courses for around $55). The only problem is that it is often quite popular & you need to book in advance to get a table on a Saturday.

Great Nepalese restaurant- with good service and great food. The goat curry was particularly tasty!

Excellent coffee!!!!!! The shop is fairly small and sometimes due to the popularity there can be a small wait- but staff are always very friendly.

This review is for Grub & Tucker, Newtown NSW

Was very disappointed by this cafe/restaurant. The service was very slow- it took ages to take our order, once our order was taken it took another 25 minutes to bring our drinks and the meals were further behind. We seemed to be unable to get the attention of a waiter/waitress despite the fact that the restaurant wasn't even half full.

The menu looked great- but unfortunately our meals were very disappointing. The salad with my meal was past it's useable date (some leaves on my plate were brown & slimy) and my meal had hazlenuts scattered on it- but some still had parts of their shells on. The mashed potato with my meal was cold.
My partner's meal was also disappointing with very overcooked rubbery fish with cold steamed vegetables on the side.
There are so many brilliant eateries/cafes on King Street, that I won't bother trying grub & tucker again to see if there has been an improvement.

Excellent Vietnamese food at reasonable prices with efficient service. The spring rolls (roll your own- a bit messy, but fun) and the vermicilli salads are great. I come back here regularly for dinner.

This review is for Black Star Pastry, Newtown NSW

Black star is a small little cafe/cake shop/bakery that does brilliant coffee & amazing cakes. I go there regularly & my only trouble is deciding on which of their yummy cakes to try! The strawberry & watermelon cake is amazing, as is the chocolate & hazelnut torte. They also do a small range of very tasty pies which are great for lunch (as well as breads etc- but I have not tried these).

It is a very small venue- with stools on the pavement to sit on rather than tables/chairs. Sometimes it can be difficult to find a seat- but takeaway is also an option.

This review is for Thai La-Ong, Newtown NSW

Thai la ong does great food at excellent prices. The $6:50 lunch deal is excellent value & I go back regularly for their red curry or pad see ew. (Dinner prices are more). Service is generally good & meals usually come out fairly quickly.

Approximate cost: $6.50-lunch
