This review is for Three Little Ducks, Bellerive TAS

I have only been to Three Little Ducks once, for a recovery breakfast the morning after my wedding...and it was bee-yoo-ti-ful! We all had the full breakfast with eggs, mushrooms, hash browns, toast, coffee, orange juice and all the trimmings. The breakfasts come in a sizzling pan which is great because it keeps hot, and we devoured every bit. The portions are huge but the food is so good that nothing goes to waste! The coffee was great too, which pleased me greatly as I am a coffee snob and will send it back if its not right! The prices are fairly reasonable for the size of the meals, but I would probably rather get a smaller portion for a smaller price. I would definitely go again, but only on special occasions because of the price.

This review is for Jack Greene Bar, Battery Point TAS

I have had a few mixed experiences at Jack Greene over the past few months. Most of the time everything is fine, the service is great, atmosphere is lovely and the food is outstanding, however every now and again, for no apparent reason the food will be slow, cold and undercooked! Thankfully this does not happen often but it has happened to me twice and to an acquaintance of mine once. When it's good, however, it is very very good, my favorite meal being the blue cheese beef burger coupled with a large bohemian pilsner. There's nothing better than a big burger and a big beer after a hard week's work! They also have a great range of sauces, but I feel that paying $20-$30 for a main course should entitle the customer to at least one free sauce to go along with their chips or onion rings (which are delectable by the way). I will definitely continue to frequent Jack Greene, but only on pay days!

This review is for Cutie Cups, Moonah TAS

I always enjoy a good cupcake, who doesn't!? Cutie cups always have a wide range of delicious cupcakes in varying sizes and flavours, all of which are delectable. The last time I visited, however, the service wasn't great unfortunately. It was just after they moved to moonah and I went in to buy a selection of six small cupcakes to share amongst my friends (my favorites are vanilla and red velvet by the way!). Now, I'm a naturally chatty person and I like to acknowledge sales people in a friendly manner, as I work in retail myself and appreciate some interaction from my customers. Well, the girl who served me certainly did not want any interaction whatsoever, and ignored my attempts at conversation which I thought was a bit rude, a smile costs nothing! The cupcakes were tasty, light and more ish as per usual, but I felt disappointed with the customer service I received. They also had a giant cupcake on display to showcase other cakes they can make to order and it was incredibly dusty and unappetizing. I would shop there again but will not go out of my way to make it a personal experience.

This review is for Audrey Hair, Lauderdale TAS

verified email - 04 May 2013

Five out of five for every category! I was looking for a new hairdresser after a few disappointing experiences with my former hairdresser and was reccommended to go to Kate at Audrey Hair in Lauderdale by a few different people. Kate was not available when I called to book, so I booked with AJ. I can honesly say that even just after two haircuts/colours with AJ I have found my new hairdresser for as long as she is cutting hair! Not only is she very sweet and great to talk to, but the haircuts I have had by her have been outstanding. I even trusted her enough after one session to do my wedding hair colour, at which session she offered to touch it up a few days before the wedding if I wished. It didn't need it because it was perfect to begin with, but I thought that was just so nice and professional. Price wise it's very cheap, a cut and colour is around $110, and they also offer a great range of Moroccan Oil Products and Beauty Treatments. I have yet to have any hair removal or nail care done there yet but I am looking to do that next time I visit. My mother and sister have both now switched from their hairdressers to AJ, and I would reccommend her to anyone without a worry.

This review is for Liv-Eat Sandwich Bars, Hobart TAS

verified email - 04 May 2013

I usually bring my lunch to work every day to save money in these tough economic times, but every now and then, maybe once a fortnight I like to "treat" myself and buy lunch in town. In this particular instance I decided on LiveEat, as they looked fresh and inviting, and the sanwiches looked well stuffed and healthy. The staff were absolutely fantastic, and I ordered a toasted tandoori chicken sandwich to take back to work with me. When I got back to work with my sandwich I was VERY disappointed to see that all the stuffing of the sandwich was to the front of the roll, and the inside was practically empty! As well as this, during the toasting process most of the sparse ingredients had stuck to the paper it was wrapped in and was consequently inedible. As you can imagine I was very disappointed, and ended up throwing most of it away. Such was my distress that I emailed LiveEat to advise them of my disappointing experience, taking great care to specify that the staff were fantastic and friendly, and that it was not a customer service issue at all but a product issue. I was contacted via email minutes later and offered a full refund or replacement sandwich, which I thought was fair and professional. I did take them up on the offer of a replacement sandwich, which was tasty and well stuffed this time. I WOULD go back again, and have done since, but consistency in the product does need to be attended to by management. Price wise I find $9 to exhobitant for a toasted sandwich, but the soups and salads are worth their prices.

This review is for City Mill Cafe & Bar, Hobart TAS

verified email - 04 May 2013

My friend and I went for dinner at the Mill on a Wednesday night. First impressions of the atmosphere and surroundings were very good, and the menu proved to contain many delicious sounding different foods. This is a Tapas-style restaurant, so we ordered about four small plates each of food (plates range from around $5-$15). I got the cob loaf, mashed potato, a lamb dish and pumpkin souffle, all of which were absolutely delectable, and more than enough food for one. The only thing that let it down was that the staff seemed stressed out and rushed, even though the restaurant was not busy at all. When we first sat down the waitress explained their "process" to us (plates come out as they are ready rather than an entree/main course order), at which point I felt a bit patronised, and we were not approached each time our drinks were empty and had to call the waitress over every time, at which point her manner seemed quite huffy. The price WAS a bit steep for what it was, but the food was absolutely gorgeous. I would definitely go again but if the service has not improved I would think twice about spending the money there.

This review is for Studio White Bridal Boutique, Penguin TAS

verified email - 04 May 2013

The only bridal shop I even visited while preparing for my wedding was Studio White in Penguin, because my first visit there was so pleasant and the girls were so helpful that I didn't NEED to shop around! I had had my dream dress picked out for four years but, due to it being an American company whose dresses are hard to find stocked in Australia I never believed that I would be able to walk down the aisle in it. That is, of course, until I went to Studio White and discussed it with the girls (Em in particular). They kindly offered to order the dress in for me, even though it was not a usually stocked item that they offered, and on April 7 this year I married my husband in it! The store is absolutely gorgeous and stocks not just wedding dresses but dresses, lingerie and accessories for all formal occasions, as well as a tailoring service. It's best to make an appointment if you wish to try on formal dresses, and the girls there are just so eager to help. At my final dress fitting Em was held up for a few minutes so she sent me for a free coffee next door while I waited, which was very sweet. Surprisingly, their prices are extremely reasonable, and I am so proud to see such a great business thriving in our small state.

This review is for Jacko's Clip Joint, Moonah TAS

verified email - 03 May 2013

My husband gets his hair cut at Jacko's Clip Joint (formerly the Celtic Barber) and they always do such a brilliant job! Last year he was offered a hot towel shave when he got his hair cut on Christmas Eve, and he was so happy with it he no longer shaves at home, he goes to Jacko's instead! The ladies who work there are so nice to chat to that I stick around while he has his hair cut rather than go out shopping because they are so pleasant and friendly.

This review is for Ms Katt's Kustom House, Moonah TAS

It's always a pleasure to shop at Ms Katt's Kustom House! Not only is the store always filled with gorgeous frocks, cute shirts and all sorts of trinkets and treasures, but Ms Katt herself is a pleasure to talk to and be served by. The store is always spotlessly clean, and while most of the time her wares are a little out of my price range I love to explore there every few weeks. It is constantly stocked with new and exciting items, and Ms Katt also runs online auctions through her Facebook page which is a great and innovative way to pick up a bargain! Two thumbs up :)

This review is for Tsunami Hair And Beauty, Lenah Valley TAS

verified email - 03 May 2013

I recently got my hair done at Tsunami hair after getting it done elsewhere for a few years and unfortunately I was really disappointed. I used to go to Tsunami years ago but changed because I was unhappy with the service and got tired of leaving unhappy with my hair. I decided to give them another go and unfortunately nothing has changed. It seems like there is a different team of staff every time you go there, while they are very friendly I didn't feel like the stylist listened to me at all, and I ended up paying an exorbitant amount of money to leave looking exactly the same as I walked in. Sorry, but I won't be giving Tsunami a third chance.
