Probably the best art shop in the north shore - a really great range of products that are sometimes hard to find in shopping centers. Also conveniently located near the station so it's not hard to grab a few supplies if needed.

Conveniently located in the heart of the city - very useful if you happen to be in the city for other reasons. They even supply massive bags for boxboard or large sheets of boxboard if you need, which I have found extremely handy for carrying models in (when it rains). Staff are friendly and helpful; the 10% student discount is a must if you are studying at a tertiary institution.

The location makes this cafe a lovely place to have a bite. Food and coffee isn't bad, though I think the entire entry through the gallery/the ambient quality of the light makes this experience delightful.

So much fun to thrift and find knick-knacks. Very useful for young designers with briefs specifying recycling as a must. I bought a huge industrial roll of paper (easily 15kg+) for only $30. They have quirky things from mannequins to everyday usefuls like haberdashery and books. Lady who served me was a little funny, ranting about religion and accepting everyone - none-the-less an eco-friendly and unusual way to shop for things.

One of my favourite coffee places near the University of Sydney - just a casual stroll along City Rd. Food is delicious, though a little pricey. The coffee is incredible and the number of lecturers/professors that I see there is a testament to their high quality coffees. Only problem is it is oriented towards the West so you get pretty strong low-angle light in the afternoon.

Although they are a Chinese restaurant it is definitely suited towards Aussie tastebuds, though the food is none-the-less delicious. They have a great range of dishes and the service is really good - staff are superb and friendly.

A really interesting, unique and useful site for finding small businesses and reviews for them. Full of helpful tips and handy things to know, it's quite the treasure trove for discovering parts of Sydney.

A really great orthodontic practice with very good service. Staff are very helpful and the receptionists friendly. The little reminders and bonuses that come after taking off braces are also make them very like-able.

Used to be our regular Chinese restaurant for family gatherings; food is excellent though service is a little slow/sometimes the dishes you want to order you have to wait a long time for. Otherwise it's at a convenient location near the shops and quite a good restaurant.
