As with other reviewers, we found the food to be lacking in any zing. It doesn't mean that it was bad, however the price of the food did not match the quality. Barramundi and lobster were ok, however were nothing exciting to the palate, instead being on the plain side and not offering any flavour or zest that a top seafood restaurant should provide. Views from the restaurant are very pleasant with the windows overlooking the water. Given the prices charged however we expected more than what was on offer. Service whilst friendly was not as a top restaurant should be where the waiter should offer suggestions as to the best dishes of the day and drinks to match. Service from the kitchen was a bit slow with the break between entree and main taking about 20-25 minutes!

A traditional family run restaurant that has been around for 20+ years. Walk in and experience a traditional Italian family dinner with staff that treat you like a member of their family! Generous serves of pasta, seafood, steaks, risottos and specials of the week are presented "just a like a mama" used to make.

Winelist is reasonable and the atmosphere takes you back to Italy of the late 1950s-60s with paintings and maps from that ear.

This restaurant is part of the split the bill campaign in the Winter months which enables you to experience the place at half price via collecting tokesn from the Herald Sun, or alternatively you can use an "Enertainment" book voucher which also allows buy one get one free.

Ok, so you thought that a pub is a pub is a pub... well the Exhange Hotel offers that and some great meals too. The place offers mid to better quality dining in a relaxed atmosphere - great for doing business lunches. Menu ranges from traditional Aussie fare such as fish and chips to the more adventurous fusion foods and some Asian. If you really want to be boring, just order pizza which has some interesting twists. Serving sizes are generous so if you're not that hungry you can share, otherwise it makes a good meal to discuss things over as some dishes take a while to finish. Winelist and drinks are reasonable in range and price. The place does get busy towards the end of the week when visiting for lunch so make a booking.

Late night supper? Quick dinner or lunch on the run? Snacks? Superbowl provides comfort Chinese Cantonese food feel to its congees, noodles and dishes. Value for money is built into the dishes with most serves being generous in size and offers al fresco dining in summer and winter (if you don't mind being out in the cold).

You know these guys are fussy about ice cream when you see people queuing up outside the door at 1am on a hot Saturday night. You also know that the quality of the ice cream must be top notch when they won't make the flavour you want when they can't get the right quality ingredients. What more is there to say? The place is a salute to great Italian gelato manufacturers in Italy. The flavours all contain authentic ingredients and our favourite is the Blood orange (not always in season!!) and it's that good we've even had friends take away the ice cream and stretched out the small container over several days - it's just that good! Cakes and cookies there unfortunately don't match the quality of the ice creams however the ice cream more than makes up for the cakes! During Easter they make and decorate their own eggs, a special treat if you're after a special Easter gift.

This review is for Thai Thai Restaurant, Hawthorn VIC

We went to this place with high expectations based on comments by friends and family. Unfortunately we found that the quality of the food on the night lacked authentic Thai flavours. Many dishes seemed to have improvised on ingredients or lacked freshness. The overall quality and taste of the food was average but nothing exciting. Although acceptable, prawns did not taste fresh, curries did not contain Thai only ingredients and some western vegetables were mixed in and fried rice lacked zing in its taste. Spring rolls were ok. It seems that the dishes were modified slightly to meet Australian tastes and not be entirely true to Thai form. There is a large wide screen tv showing images of Thailand and overall decor is nice.

Authentic Malaysian in Port Melbourne? In a street off the main shopping strip in Port Melbourne, there's a small, comfortable restaurant where you can get authentic, high quality Malaysian dishes and enjoy a glass of wine to go with each dish from an extensive wine menu. Entrees such as Lobak and Curry Puffs are authentic and well presented and main dishes such as Rendang and Belacan Spinach. Order coconut rice to go with these two dishes alone and you're back in Malaysia having dinner with the family at home. The decor of the store represents an old style coffee shop in Malaysia with timber tables and chairs in black and bird cages on the roof (which contain the lighting). Al fresco dining is available in Summer with the front windows of the store being able to be fully opened and tables put out onto the sidewalk. Seafood is fresh and tasty - Coconut prawns are highly recommended. In terms of value, the pricing of the dishes are fair however given the location the pricing also reflects the place. Service is brisk and unobtrusive however when busy it can be hard to grab the attention of a waiter/waitress.

Very authentic Malaysian home style cooking. Char Kueh Teo and Mee goreng are tasty and authentic. Kueh is the highlight of this place and sells out fast.

Want to select between Japanese, Malaysian and Chinese on the run? How about a quick salad sandwich? Louis Gourmet Lunch provides sushi rolls, Curries, Laksa and the regular bain marie Chinese Fried rice + 2 dishes for a reasonable price and service is realtively fast. If you're after a Laksa or other bowl of noodles, these are made fresh when you order and will take a while but not too long to wait and reasonable quality for the money.

This review is for Frenchy's Bistro, Glen Waverley VIC

French in the burbs? Well, this place provides good to very good quality French style dishes from ox tail to salmon. All dishes were well presented, fresh. and a reasonable size (not too large, not too small). The waiter provided attentive service however this was sporadic - one moment we were well looked after, the next moment we were waiving our arms trying to attract someone's attention. This place accepts the Entertainment card so we were able to have lunch as a two for one (i.e. two dishes for the price of one) which ended up being great value, however, without the card the value equation is average. Dishes however as far as being French goes did not particularly have a french accent to them - we expected some dishes to be quite hearty but ended up lacking strong French flavours.
