This review is for Sakura House, Wantirna South VIC

I've been to Sakura house a handful of times with friends and we keep going back. The food isn't the best Japanese I've had but it's definitely up to scratch and their sushi is great. They have a fairly good range of sakes and the service is usually friendly and quick.

Great Mexican! The serving sizes are generous and the food is fantastic - lots of fresh and interesting ingredients. They also do wonderful brunches on weekends! The only downside is that their drinks are incredibly expensive - the margaritas are good and they use top notch tequila but for me $17 for a drink is too much.

This review is for Montania Cafe, Ferntree Gully VIC

One of my favourite places for brunch or a great lunch, Montania isn't a large cafe but the food is really great and service is usually quick. The outdoor dining areas are also fantastic in summer.

This review is for Paesano Restaurant, Wantirna South VIC

Paesano's offers pizza, pasta and a range of meat and seafood dishes for eat-in or take-away. I come here fairly regularly with friends, it's not the best Italian you'll ever have but it's a cut above more common 'chain' restaurants.

There's always plenty of seating, I've never had issues with the service or food quality and the prices are reasonable. Can't go wrong here for decent Italian food

This review is for Polly Bar, Fitzroy VIC

verified email - 03 Jul 2012

Polly is one of my favourite bars when I'm feeling like splurging. The cocktails are reasonably expensive but they're well worth it - quality ingredients and well-trained bar staff can make amazing drinks off their extensive cocktail menu or to order, they also offer a range of absinthes, beers, wines and liqueurs. The food is more reasonably priced and they offer decent portion sizes. The atmosphere is really what makes Polly special, it's small, comfortable and classy - a great place to unwind with friends. However it is quite popular and I've never gone there on Friday/Saturday nights because I've heard it gets crowded, which I think would ruin the experience a little.

Fantastic concept for a restaurant (pay how much you think the meal is worth) and they do such fantastic work. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxed and the food is excellent. Worth a look just for the experience.

This review is for Evolve Yoga Melbourne, Balwyn VIC

verified email - 02 Jul 2012

I'd never done yoga before attending Evolve when they used to operate in Bayswater. Sharon is a warm and inviting teacher, she puts you at ease and her genuine enthusiasm for yoga is infectious. She's easily able to adapt the classes for beginners and more advanced practitioners and offers regular workshops teaching more in depth aspects of yoga. She has also recently started a kids yoga class.
I haven't attended her classes for a few months as I've moved further away, however I'm seriously considering taking it up again despite the distance.

Approximate cost: $14 per class

This review is for Spellbox, Melbourne VIC

I went there for the first time on the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. A lot of New Age-type shops are cluttered and their stock is not really thematically consistent - not the case here! Specialising in witchcrafting supplies Spellbox is inviting, has a range of interesting products ranging from the general (jewelry, crystals, books etc.) to the more unique (inks, herbs etc.).
Well worth a look!

This review is for Firebrand Sourdough Bakery, Ripponlea VIC

verified email - 02 Jul 2012

I walk past this bakery every day on the way home from the station and always, ALWAYS slow down to look in the window because their selection of croissants, cakes and pizzas is always amazing. I don't shop there every day but I've bought bread and cakes from them before - the sourdough is worth the hype! Buy a larger loaf than you think you'll need because if you're anything like me half the loaf will go as soon as you get home.
Absolutely worth a look!

This review is for Khazana Contemporary Indian Cuisine, Wantirna VIC

One of my favourite Indian haunts! Food is delicious and reasonably priced, service is polite and attentive. I'm vegetarian and found myself spoiled for choice. I eat here regularly and have never had a bad experience. Highly recommended!
