Balance Therapies' new center in Ridge Road, Olinda is heavenly. The building has delightful historic touches, but with a clean, crisp white interior style. Massages are fantastic - good quality, qualified masseuses and reasonably priced ($45 - 50 for 30mins). I also had eyebrow waxing and lash tinting which was smooth, painless and professionally done. The wax smelt delicious. The therapists were friendly without being too chatty. :)
The building has a large lounge area suited to a tea break, and we also used this space to have our mothers group - so that the mums could take turns to have treatments whilst the kids played. Nadine, the owner of Balance Therapies, is more than happy to have groups like this and even provided toys for the kids.
Totally recommend it - bring your friends!

Fantastic range of bare rooted fruit trees, citrus and strange fruiting plants. This nursery appeals to me because of their superior range and helpfulness - they are willing to special order things and generally throw in some free vegie seedlings if they're getting a bit old.

A great online ordering system and a good local shop. I love going to the retail outlet and checking out the current stock and sales. The potted bulbs (hyacinths and tulips) were amazingly good bargains and the garden and sustainable lifestyle accessories (growbags, bokashi bins etc) are also excellent and reasonably priced.

Fantastic range of organic, heirloom varieties of productive plants and perennials. Major focus on sustainable gardening and growing your own food. I LOVE DIGGERS! Joining the club ensures cheaper prices on everything and free entry to Heronswood and St Eath gardens.

This review is for Belgrave Manor Earthly Pleasures Cafe, Belgrave VIC

The ambiance and environment at this cafe are wonderful. It is a beautifully appointed, reconditioned blue stone building set up with numerous antique-style dining tables, making it feel like you've just stepped into a private dining room in a period novel. The food is lovely, but you do have to pay for the privilege and, the times I've been there, the wait for service was pretty long. My husband was disappointed by the small size of his main, but the flavor was great.
If you want a special experience and have the time to spend in beautiful surroundings, Earthly Pleasures is well worth it.

Gorgeous natural toys, clothes and accessories for children and the young-at-heart. I love the wooden baby toys and handmade felted balls, decorations and toys. For the quality of the products, the prices are really reasonable and the service is friendly and delightful. The shop tries to support local artisans and stocks pretty unique items. A must-see for special baby/kid presents and decorations.

This review is for Wickedly Delicious Patisserie Cafe, Monbulk VIC

Wickedly Delicious has a beautiful range of cakes and pastries, but what I like best is their breakfast menu! The potato rosti stack is delicious! I'm also a big fan of their chicken ceasar salad. This is a lovely cafe with a good sized dining area and fun souvenir options for visitors. They also make to order for specialty cakes, which look incredible. The prices are fairly high for the location - approximately $18+ for a breakfast - but it is good quality.

Delicious food with suitably high prices. Definitely a good place to go for a special night out. Our meals were all delicious and worth paying for and my friend particularly enjoyed the pork!
Desserts were also wonderful - though a little small for my tastes!
Overall, a lovely spot.

This review is for Pie In The Sky, Olinda VIC

verified email - 18 Sep 2010

This place is famous for pies, so I suppose if you are a pie-person you should check it out! Just be warned that it is also a haunt for tourist buses on the weekends in summer, so it might be worth calling to see what the table availability is like before making the trip. I'm not a big pie person, so I tried the croquettes which could have been better, BUT, to be fair, it is a PIE shop and my friends said their pies were great.

This review is for Ripe Cafe, Sassafras VIC

If you can get a seat at Ripe it is one of the best cafes around. I would definitely recommend booking in advance and trying to request an indoor table, but this is sometimes impossible as this little gem is so very busy! The baguettes are second to none with simple but effective combinations of antipasto, meats and delicious cheeses. The lunch menu changes regularly depending on seasonal availability of produce so you're guaranteed to never get bored with the food. The coffees are heavenly and the lindt hot chocolates are unsurpassed - especially the orange one!
This place is awesome, but don't expect to be able to walk in and get a seat!
