This review is for Mini Mi, Albany WA

verified email - 03 May 2013

The name of the cafe I think is a reference to the menu, where meals can be ordered as either a small (mini) or large (mighty) serving. The other thing I first noticed about Mini Mi is the signage, it looks very generic and bland. The service is very accommodating. I found the different serving sizes (mostly breakfast) worked well for me, and some personalisation to the names of meals on the menu which was nice. Meals came out within 10 minutes. Beverages have been average to good. Iced drinks and milkshakes were over-sweetened. One coffee was less than lukewarm but it didn't matter much for me.

This review is for The Bath Tub, Albany WA

The Bath Tub is the only dedicated beauty shop on York Street. All of the stock is natural, and a lot is sourced locally in the Great Southern area.

I went there twice last year. The first time I was shopping for gifts and the lady was very helpful and engaging. They had a wide knowledge of the products and asked me questions such as about who I was buying for etc and what my personal ideas were, that really helped me find some nice things to buy. The prices were fine, and I was comfortable with them.

I was sending the gifts by post and the lady offered to wrap them up (there was several choices of wrapping paper), complete with a ribbon! They also offered to help provide some packaging to send the items in, but as I was still shopping around at more places I declined.

This review is for Pureprofile, Sydney NSW

The initial signup process can be frustratingly long. But, overall, Pure Profile rewards have a better dollar value than the other survey sites I've used. A survey I did that only went for 10 minutes rewarded me $2.

The website is clean and professional. There seems to be a community vibe because of the home page poll and the music service being launched soon.

I usually don't respond to surveys as soon as they come. I log once a week or fortnight to do a few surveys that have built up. It is not a painstakingly slow process unlike other sites.

I've cashed out once so far. The money went into my account fine, with the usual amount of waiting time for processing. However it is free money compared to the cents I spend on internet data to use the site. So there is no problem with the rate of bank transfers.

This review is for RewardsCentral, St Leonards NSW

RewardsCentral, of course, offers good value for money. The internet data I use visiting the site daily and doing surveys is minimal compared to the cash I can earn after 4-8 months.

The most effective way to earn points are surveys, and sometimes offers. As well as shopping online with one of their partners, but I haven't tried this yet, and there is no incentive to.

I like how I can just sign up, fill out my profile and do surveys that are automatically sent to my inbox. There is no pressure or ads to join the Gold Member service, and the marketing material they send always carries points.

This review is for Albany Sandwich Bar & Cafe, Albany WA

verified email - 05 Jan 2013

This was the first cafe I went to when I moved to Albany and it has since been my preferred place for a meal, coffee or takeaway. It is a pleasant, compact and simple lunch bar with a wide menu and choice of drinks and sweets. The service is always nice and efficient, meals are priced well and the food is very dependable for the sort of quick service lunch/sandwich bar this is. It is in a handy location near banks and ATMS and is the earliest place open on York Street on a weekday (I think). My only complaint is the menu could have more daily or weekly specials.

This review is for Kates Place, Albany WA

verified email - 05 Jan 2013

I've been here twice for lunch since it opened around October last year. It has a carefree, Euro, hippy atmosphere, probably because it is next door to the backpackers and most of the staff I have seen are foreign. The lunch menu is surprisingly sparse for a cafe that is open from early morning right to 6pm, BUT is very unique and the meals I've had were delicious and well presented. They are also cheap (under $15) compared to other Albany cafes. In general the food side of Kates Place is very pleasing, but the lack of common recognisable meals like fish n chips might not suit every taste. The service was pleasant and very polite.

This review is for Absolute Tea, Townsville QLD

verified email - 05 Jan 2013

I came here twice when I was in Townsville early last year (the third was on Sunday and they had no tables left). The room is very white, clean and ornamental looking, with decorations and tea-related items to buy on shelves. My friend said it looked very clinical but I think the white colour scheme suits, as the menu is very modern and detailed (pages of different teas). The service was nice and pleasant, I ordered at the counter once but the next time I went it was table service and the girl took my order after I was seated. Either or suits me, but the table service was something different for a cafe. My tea was excellent (smokey earl grey) and the scones tasted fresh from the oven, not microwaved like some places do. The scones weren't just "scones" either, the flavour I had was lemon and rose. When I was back in WA I had further correspondence via email with Absolute Tea about where to buy that particular blend of tea; they went above and beyond to find a local supplier :)

This was the first dedicated tea shop I had been to and I was very impressed. I ordered Devonshire tea which was advertised on the street. I sat outside, which overlooks the main street. The service was excellent and the person serving me/bringing out the tea didn't just say "here you go", they started a conversation and asked me how my day was and what I was doing. I was only passing through Brisbane so this was very nice and refreshing. The tea and scones were delicious with the right amount of jam and cream.

This review is for Venice Pizza Bar And Restaurant, Albany WA

The menu is a nice combination of Australian and Italian cuisine, so there is something for everyone, and there are the usual ranges of hot/cold drinks just to sit down and have. Service is friendly and fast. The prices are okay and what you'd expect.

This review is for Appleyards Of Albany, Albany WA

verified email - 02 Dec 2012

I think appleyards has really hit the nail in the head for modern retail shopping and is one of the best shops on York Street. There is something for everyone here (though mainly kitchen-related products) and the service is warm and welcoming. The store layout and look is very clean and modern, which helps.
