We stayed in a family room, with double bed and two singles for a night, on our way to Queensland.
I booked via their website on the internet. We were travelling through from SA and only arriving late, around 11pm, so I rang ahead to let them know this, so the manageress said that the room would be ready for us, key in door and the heater on. So, we arrived late and tired to a nice, warm room.
The rooms are a good size, basic, but very clean and well maintained, new flat-screen TV, comfortable beds and well-looked-after fittings and fixtures. A good-sized, neat and clean refurbished bathroom.
In the morning, we left before reception opened, but I saw the manageress as I was walking over to drop our key in the early departure box. She was delivering breakfast to a room, and stopped to enquire about our trip, noted that we had arrived safely and enquired whether everything was to our satisfaction. She was very pleasant and friendly, and I happily advised her that we were very satisfied with everything.
Noise from the highway was minimal and the room was very comfortable with the air conditioner keeping the room very cosy.
Very good value at $117 a night for our family of 4.

Approximate cost: $117 a night for family room for 4.

A small shop on the Highway in Burleigh Heads, not far from the beach-front park and beach.
We were looking for somewhere to have a quick, late tea after picking up a friend from the airport.
Five of us ordered various kebabs, good sized serving and good value. We all enjoyed them. I decided to try a Felafel kebab, for something different and it was very nice and very filling. Nice, thin, toasted lavash (I think!) bread. The kebabs are available in 3 different sizes, depending on your appetite.
The young man who served us was friendly, our 5 kebabs were made quickly and we sat outside at one of the several tables provided under the front verandah.

Approximate cost: $from about $7

We were passing tonight and saw their sign for a $13 'Schnitzel and Pot' deal. So we decided to call in and have tea here.
Glad we did. Nice, comfortable dining area, friendly staff and a generous and tasty meal.
The deal included a choice of veal or chicken schnitzel with choice of toppings and chips, plus the choice of a beer or soft drink. Nothing fancy, but a good, honest meal at an excellent price.

Approximate cost: $13 Schnitzel and beer/soft drink deal.

This resort has about 20 rooms, mostly 2 bedroom, sleeping up to 6 people, both ground floor and upstairs on the first floor.
We booked 2 units over the long weekend for 4 couples.
The units we had were upstairs. They were a good size, with a kitchen and living area, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, private balcony and a laundry with washing machine and dryer. The fixtures were all fairly new and good quality. The rooms were clean and tidy and in good condition, plenty of room, quite comfortable for 2 couples, with private bathroom facilities for each.
The resort managers were very friendly and helpful, There is an enclosed, heated pool, games room for the kids and adults lounge upstairs, with pool table, darts, TVs etc. Also a mini-golf course, enclosed BBQ area and half-court tennis court.
The resort is located on Barrage Road, about 2 kilometres from the town centre, toward the sea and on the banks of the River Murray. A very picturesque setting.
There are good facilities in the town, a Woolworths, Foodland and a lot of eating places. Lots of attractions as well in the area, and good swimming and surfing beaches nearby, as well as more protected boating areas on the river.
We had a very enjoyable weekend at this resort and will definitely return in the future.

This park is located right on the beachfront, only about a kilometre from the town centre, and easy access to all of the town's main facilities.
We stayed for the weekend in one of their waterview villas. Absolutely beautiful. A brand new, two bedroom unit, with full kitchen, living and dining room. I could easily live in a unit like this. And the view, WOW, spectacular, with views around the coast to the Bluff in one direction, and across to Granite Island and Encounter Bay the other.
The owners are the most lovely people, so friendly and welcoming, a good knowledge of the area and attractions and great ambassadors for their town and business.
I must have mentioned that it was my wifes birthday when I booked, because when we arrived (after office hours), they had turned on the air-con heating and front porch light for us, and on the table was a note from the management wishing my wife a happy birthday, with a complimentary bottle of good quality wine and a box of Guylian chockies. What a lovely, welcoming touch, my wife was delighted.
Even though it poured with rain for most of the 3 days we were there (around 100mm), we really enjoyed our stay. There are plenty of things to do in town, and when the rain stops, the walking/cycling track goes straight past the park in both directions for many kilometres, and the views are fantastic.
There are several different choices of cabins and a large number of good-sized, flat and grassed caravan sites, some with ensuite and camping sites. A lovely park.

Had lunch here the other day with a group of 6 friends. We saw the $13.90 pork roast special advertised, and all agreed it sounded good. So, we all had the same. All of us were happy with our meals, good portion sizes (we had a couple of country farmers with good appetites with us) and the salad and veg bar were nice; fresh and a good selection.
The cafe area is located at the southern side of the pub, pleasant indoor seats and tables, with nice big windows overlooking the park, toward the jetty to Granite Island. Also a nice outdoor alfresco area.
Pleasant atmosphere, friendly efficient staff, and a reasonably priced menu e.g. $14.90 for schnitzels, burgers from $12.90 to $15.90, etc.

My wife and I decided to have lunch here recently while staying in Victor Harbor. It was the $10 meal specials on the advertising boards outside that attracted our attention. But, what was advertised wasnt available the day we were there, regardless, we decided to stay and choose from the regular-price menu. My wife had a chicken parmiagana and I had a Hawaiian chicken schnitzel.
Both our meals were of rather average quality, a little overcooked, and the salad bar was a little sad; basic, bland and past its freshest.
The lady behind the bar and taking our orders was friendly enough, but seemed to be rushed off her feet and trying to cover all areas of the hotel herself.
The model train that runs around the ceiling was a quaint touch, but the seating area was fairly cramped.
This hotel is a stately old country pub, steeped in history (I can remember my Grandma talking about the grandeur and elegance of this place back in the 1950's and earlier), but I'm afraid we didn't feel that vibe.

This micro-brewery is located in an old warehouse on the wharf at Goolwa. We took a ride on the Cockle Train, and the brewery is right next to the Railway Station, so we went in for a look after our trip.
It is set up so you can view the beer-making and bottling plant, and other memorabilia on display.
We bought a couple of 4 packs of assorted beers in about 375ml bottles for $18.60, for the blokes in our group to try.(sorry, not being sexist, we offered our wives a taste too, but they decided to stick with their Moscato!)
A nice bar area, beers on tap as well, to drink on site. Plenty of seating inside and tables outside on a raised wooden deck, with views of the river and Wharf Precinct.
There was a choice of about 5 different styles, they only had 3 available when we visited. Usually I'm not that partial to these boutique beers, but these weren't too bad.
Worth a visit, and the Wharf area has a lot of other attractions, like the Steam Train, eating places, river Museum, craft shops etc.

We stopped here for lunch the other day. Had seafood packs. Very nice, well cooked, generous servings. The staff are very friendly, a nice country feel to the place.
Our meals were ready quickly, even though they were busy, and we were a group of 6 adults.
Sat outside on the wooden benches and tables under the verandah on the main street of Goolwa.
Reasonable prices for the serving we received. Would happily return here.

A fantastic experience. We boarded the Cockle Train at Goolwa and travelled through to Victor Harbor, about a half hour journey. The view of the coast is great, in one section near Port Elliot, you are travelling right along the edge of the beach.
After about 45 minutes in Victor, we reboarded and returned to Goolwa. You can stay longer, if you wish, and catch a later return train.
This is a fun trip for all ages, great for families and kids. We were with a group of 8 'older-ies', (50-ish), and we all really enjoyed this trip.
Well worth the money ($29 each, return, full-fare), and kudos to the volunteers, who keep this piece of history operating for all to enjoy.

Approximate cost: $29 return, full-fare. Concession, children & families cheaper.
