The place was alright, there was nothing special about the place, although in summer I think it would be good to go to and have a few beer there.

Food was actually ok, considering, although the prices we a bit higher than you would pick for that sort of place.

I have been now, probably won't go back.

My friends organised a birthday dinner for me at the Anglers.

We met for drinks first, while sitting outside admiring all the walkers, walking around the river. It was a beautiful night so sitting outside was not a problem. I ordered calamari, and it was delicious. The food all looked amazing. It was competitive with other hotels, price wise and it was served quickly, which is what I like. I also went back for the mars bar cake...again delicious. The tables were cleared fast and the staff were friendly.

I was told of Angler's Tavern by a friend and said how its such a great venue and serves yummy meals, so I tried out and was very impressed.

I ordered a beef burger and it was absolutely delicious and well cooked - just as I like my meat (well done).

good location too

The location is just beautiful. There is something so relaxing about sitting down and eating lunch with the view of the Maribyrnong river. There are plenty of seats in the outdoor beer garden area allowing you to make the most of the scenery.

As for the food, well it was served up quite quickly from the time that we ordered and all the meals were quite generous servings to the point that even the guys struggled to finish their meals. Two of our meals were brought out at the same time and would have been a good five minutes before the remaining two meals on our table were brought out. The food quality was ok, but nothing to rave about and probably overpriced considering the quality. I would rather pay more for a better tasting smaller portion than an over-sized so-so portion.

This place is only good if yoiur intoxicated - at least that's the conclusion I've come to! it's ugle, the food is terrible and the music so loud that you can't have a conversation over lunch. Will never return

The Anglers Tavern is in a fantastic location, on the bend of the Maribynong River. Perfect for a post walk drink to wind down. Unfortunately the decor is very dated. Every room has different flooring or paint colour or furniture, you get the idea. The fence also blocks waht should be a great view of the river. Overall, disappointing.

We had a good meal (midweek) where our daughter was able to run around and enjoy herself. Food wasn't too bad either

This place is over rated and people with taste up their bottom would only like it here. I came for my sister in law's 40th and had previously heard great things about the place, but I was let down. Owned by a couple of hopeless footballers who have no idea about cuisine let alone anything, what could you expect. The pizza, about $15 was no more that a cooked frozen McCain's pizza I am sure. The dough was soggy and undercooked- just like a frozen pizza. The place is frequented by a bunch of bimbos, gold diggers and try hards who think that they will bump into famous footballers and then brag about it. The interior is cheap and dingy. There is no service and the food is gross.

The food is quite good as is the service. The place can be quite busy so it's best to book ahead. The beer garden is also quite nice and it's a gentle, comfortable place I've taken my grandmother. My only complaint is that on a Friday/Saturday night the place turns into a horrendous disco meat market for the 18-25 crowd. It's the type of place where the aim is to 'pick up' or at least drink as much as possible as quickly as possible and to slosh your drinks around on the dancefloor and over others. It's quite a contrast to the comfortable, classy restaurant!

Approximate cost: $28
