I wouldn't take an insurance policy with apia again.

Not recommended!
After receiving some heavy rain which caused some water to get into a small section of the Eaves of my home, Apia, after taking very many years of my premium payments, rejected my claim for repairs!
I am a Tradie and regularly checked and kept all my house Gutters myself, however Apia still rejected my claim!
Warning people, don't be tricked into Insuring with this company! They are "not" what they appear!

I recently upgraded my Contents INsurance with them to include damage to floor coverings and some other things because I live in a Retirement Village which didn't include Accidental Damage cover in its Building Insurance so as to save money. APIA staff were very helpful and explained the legal aspects as to what I could legally cover that could be covered by Building Insurance. I will list the estimated difference in price below.

Approximate cost: $123

I decide to go with these guys for my car and contents insurance and I was surprised just how much cheap they are , for my car insurance I save about 12per month and 15 a month on my contents insurance compared to the last company I was with and for any one over 50 this is the company for you

Approximate cost: $480

I took out House and Contents Insurance with APIA two years back, after my then current insurer (NRMA) wanted to raise my premiums by about 60% !!! APIA quoted me for insurance with comparable provisions and conditions for less than the NRMA's rates BEFORE the 60% increase.

The next year, I was expecting that the honeymoon period might be over and I would be hit with a massive increase ... the premium had gone up 15%, so the price was still very competitive, in view of the fact that insurance premiums have been skyrocketing in recent years.

I am also able to pay the premium by direct debit in monthly instalments for no extra cost than if I were to pay it in one lump sum.

I rang them recently with a query re my policy, and I found the staff member very friendly, with a great knowledge of their product, and able to explain the policy conditions very clearly.

We've been over 50 for a few years now and kept with the NRMA for quite a while till we ghot our latest renewal for the two cars and home contents. So we started ringiong around and called APIA. How refreshing to have someone answer your call rather than an automated service. Everything was straight forward, they slashed our premiums without reducing the value insured, which the NRMA did and we couldn't be happioer, we should have made this move 5 years ago. By the way our son who is 26 sometimes drives one of the cars and it's no extra as long as the one of the policy owners is over 50

I took out third party car insurance firstly with APIA. Then a funeral plan over 18mths ago. I appreciate being able to contact them without having to go through a long process. My time on the phone is valuable. Most things are done on line for sydney people but I did live in Wollongong and found them great to deal with over the counter. I was having a direct debit of about $18 mth and at 60 this was good cover. I notice some competition have turned up the heat but the service of APIA tell me that they will be there in the end when I need them and not swallowed up by some big insurance company who wants their roll. They exist for select folk and I am glad to be one of them

These guys would have to be the best for insurance. Their service is no hassle, quick and simple for claims made, and their price for home and contents beats the others hands down, and to make it even better...they really answer the phone, none of this press 1, press 2 etc. You always get to speak to someone straight away

I have been with this company for about 3yrs now and I have found them to be probably the best insurance company I have dealt with. I have both car and contents insurance and have had one no hassle, easy claim
