Great coffee and cakes but service needs improvement. Cake service is chaotic and need as number system. I waited twice for 10 min each time an could not order a cake from the coffee counter if it was at other cake counter. Need more staff. Vibrant Sunday morning atmosphere.

The coffee is hot, the cakes are sweet and fresh and the atmosphere is pure Carlton. I only just recently discovered this place and will never go anywhere else for cannoli again. The staff are always busy and want you to order quickly but the food is worth it.

I have been going to Brunetti's since I was a little girl. It was always the first place my dad would take me when holidaying in Melbourne. Now that I live here I frequent it myself and I'm never disappointed. Their sweets are divine, the savories are filling and everything is just luxe. It's always busy but you get served very quickly and it's lovely to just sit with a pistachio mignion and a blood orange granita and watch the world go by.

Probably overrated these days. Quality is good, but not necessarily value for money! OKay for a quick coffee and a pastry, but I for one do not eat meals here nowadays.

The surrounds are nice - think upper class, modern, boutique style cafe.
The staff are friendly and efficient.
The menu is comprehensive, and food is well executed and well presented.
However, the prices are rather extravagant and sizes are rather small. I think that the place has been a little overhyped.

We go here whenever we're wanting the Lygon Street experience, without the restaurant hassle. On a weekend, this place is packed and you are doing well to get a table. It's a pretty hectic set up and you literally elbow your way through the crowd, but once you do its a smorgasboard of delicious choices. Try any of the hot meals and you'll be feeling more than satisfied. Lasagne is my favourite but the focaccia breads are delicious too. Add to that a coffee and any one of the hundreds of sweet options and you're in for a winner. I love the giant rum balls and the little chocolates up the other end!
Their cakes are quite affordable and a really good size. They give you great advice on storing them if you've bought one for a special occasion.

A true winner!

Beautiful selection of interesting looking cakes and a lovely atmosphere for a Sunday afternoon, unfortunately this means it's packed on Sunday. The breakfasts are delicious but very expensive. Ideal for a quite coffee or ice cream at night, and it's in the perfect location just off Lygon St.

Brunetti was the place to go to when the original Piero Brunetti owned it. The cakes were to die for. The place is always full so you expect the food is great - this isnt the case. The cakes are sooooooooo expensive, you wont get much change from $20 when you order 2 cakes and 2 coffees - a rip off. Our last cakes were burnt and the creamed tasted like flavoured butter. Too fattening for me.

If I go somewhere the first time and it's unsatisfactory, I usually will go back again to give them another opportunity, because I believe it's human nature to have the occasional 'bad day'. However, if the second time is equally as unsatisfactory, it is a place that I will not step into again.
Unfortunately, Brunetti is one of these places.

When I went there the first time, I was impressed at the range of cakes/pastries they have on offer, very pretty too.
Even though the queue was long I was still extremely excited, thinking: "If they're this busy, the food here must be fantastic"
We ordered a lemon tart, black forest, and for my fat-conscious friend, a low-fat nutella cheesecake.
As we found some seating (finally), I couldn't wait to eat, and picked up a bit of the cheesecake and put it in my mouth.
I felt thoroughly disappointed.
It was probably one of the worst cheesecakes I've ever tasted. The cheese cake extremely bland, and with texture like rubber. I know people say it's low-fat and so "What do you expect?" but I've made low-fat cheesecakes in the past and it's 100% creamier and tastier than what I paid $6 for at Brunetti's. The lemon tart was also a disappointment; the 'shortcrust' was so hard that I had to use my fork as a hammer to break it, and the lemon custard itself was way too sweet and not enough tartness. The only (slight) redeeming factor of the meal was the black forest, which was decent, but even still it wasn't worth the high price I paid for it. I left feeling extremely disappointed.

The second opportunity I gave Brunetti was a few weeks after. We ordered a tiramisu and fruit tart. Unfortunately, this experience was not any better.
Again the 'shortcrust' was hard, and the tiramisu had some 'stringy' bits in it that was so revolting I stopped after one spoonful.

For me, I am afraid there's no more credits left for Brunetti.

The best cakes and Italian desserts you can get. Weekends are always busy but still its well worth the wait. We found it hard to get a table but we were patient enough to wait. The coffee is ok.
