Ive been going here for about 15 years! It has its days, service can be overwhelmed as with all king street cafes but - oldie & a goodie! I tend to have cakes rather than their mains so I can't vouch for those

Approximate cost: $15

I've been to this cafe a few times, only because of it's convenient location. However after a few bad experiences with the surly manager and very average, expensive food, I've decided not to go back. With prices of $25 to $27 for their main meals, and the only other alternative being huge slices of cake, I think I'll go elsewhere in future. And $8 for two tea bags!!! That doesn't surprise me based on the attitude I've encountered there.

Approximate cost: $25

I went here to order a tea the other day and paid $4. When I saw the size of the teapot I asked them to put 2 teabags not 1 in the pot. I was told that would be $8. I will never go here again. What a rip-off!! (Needless to say I told the guy I wasn't paying $8 for a cup of tea.)

Approximate cost: $28

Huge Breakfas, though I have had it many times it does tend to arrive colder through the colder months, so their heat lamps must be off if they have any, but it very good coffee, excellent tasting food and the service is pleasant enough. they dont take Credit card payment so remeber to take cash.

Read the reviews, just got back from breakfast. I couldn't finish the serving. They give you plenty. Nicely cooked. Loved the service. I'd love to try others on the menu.

This cafe has been there for many years and has stood the test of time, it's popular especially for their brunches. They have a very good selection menu and a excellent range of drinks. Since April they have been roasting their own coffee and I have noticed a much improved flavour in the coffee.
We recently had dinner here and it was good, though two of us had the scotch fillet, I with chips and the steak wasn't huge and cost $26.00, it was nice but to much. Theres an excellent selection of cakes and a large reading table at the back of the cafe which is handy in the day, at lunch time.
The service is attentive and quick, the food hot and tasty, the coffee excellent.

Approximate cost: $8.00-$26.00

I go there every Sunday for my morning coffee. It's great and the staff are really friendly as well. It's right on King Street with no outdoor area but the side opens up to the side street and it's a nice vibe.

Their breakfasts are HUGE! Especially the big which I recommend if you are really hungry or shared between two. The smoothies they have on the menu are also a must try, also the snickers thickshake, yum. A newtown institution.

I went here a few times for breakfast and I was really happy with the food. The atmosphere is homely, and the food is as well, which is great. At some cafes you will get fancy thick toast at an expensive price, here you get standard toast, lovely fried eggs and bacon with generous serves, and the price is not too steep. The staff were really friendly, and I didn't have to wait long to get my breakfast. This is a wonderful open cafe with lots of the seating facing the street, and lots inside as well.

this place used to be great, their chicken burger was awesome but i think they changed chefs. service is ok. think they cut corners with the quality of food they use though. i always get wilted lettuce and soggy tomatoes.

Approximate cost: $20

One of our favourite places to eat in Newtown for simple, hearty meals. The portions are huge so you're definitely getting value for money. Special mention goes to the lamb shank which I couldn't stop eating and almost made me explode with yumminess. In my opinion the only downside is having to go outside to use the loos.
