I have seen a number of doctors at this surgery and it has been a bit hit or miss. A few I found to be a bit unhelpful and I was told once to google what they diagnosed me with to find out how to treat it - surely that was what I was paying money for! However, there are a lot of Doctors here and I have not seen them all so I can't judge the whole practice. I have to say I have also seen a number of very empathetic, helpful and thorough Doctors at this surgery. Personally I found Dr Bassett and Dr Thorn to be particularly good. The reception staff have always been very friendly and professional. One issue is that appointments have always been running at least 30-45 mins late every time I have been but I know that happens at a lot of doctors and sometimes can't be helped.

Recently very sick I visted a female Dr at this surgery on a Saturday. She took the time to listern and check over me in a very caring and professional manner. I was glad she insisted I take the time off work to fully recover from my illness and even made additional appointments to track my progress through the week (and organised to visit another another dr in her absence without having to explain the situation again).

Approximate cost: $65.00

Some of the doctors are wonderful. I was 12 weeks pregnant and had just found out I'd had an increased risk for Down Syndrome on my ultrasound. (One in 20 get this result!) He told me that I should consider abortion. When I said that this was not an option he asked me whether I was religious. (Which is not the case) Then, in my quite shocked state, he said that he had to move his car, leaving me in his room in a distressed manner. I will NEVER see this doctor again but would willingly try another doctor. The female doctor that I have seen was lovely and caring.

The centre has quite a few doctors and while they often have appointments available at late notice I have found it difficult to regularly see the same doctor.
The doctors can be hit and miss... I found one doctor (Dr Emma) to be very compassionate and understanding, however when I tried to get another appointment with her she was on leave. The next doctors I tried varied - one made me feel silly and did not really help me with my complaints and left me feeling like I had wasted my time however another was very thorough and kind.
My next health issue was something I found uncomfortable talking about but I was relatively happy with the next doctor I visited (Dr Kristina) and so made another appointment to follow up. I reported to reception when I arrived and then waited for about 45 minutes without seeing Dr Kristina..eventually I saw her walk past my seat, and then another female doctor came out and called me into her office.. when I explained that I did not have an appointment with her, I had one with Dr Kristina she looked confused and told me that Dr Kristina had left, and that my appointment was with her. I then had to explain the situation again, and answer the same questions that I had already been through with Dr Kristina. While the new doctor was empathetic I was embarrassed and upset at having to go through everything for the second time and if I had have known my 'follow up' appointment was not going to be with the same doctor I would not have come. I left feeling humiliated and angry that the reception staff had not told me of the changed appointment when I told them at the desk which doctor I was there to see. I have not been back to Doctors of Northcote because I dont feel I can trust the service I will get

My mum was visiting Vic from Qld and needed a doctor - I sent her off to Doctors of Northcote. She was very happy with the doctor she saw, who actively listened to her complaints, took a comphrensive history from her, and was very professional and compassionate.

Very pleasant and intelligent doctors who actually listen to you and don't just prescribe something to get you out the door. And the receptionists are friendly and helpful.
