I went to a reunion here recently and it was a pleasant surprise. There had been a change of management a couple of months before and things have apparently improved a lot. All our meals were good and it was fairly typical pub fare. Nice staff and an attractive venue.

Been a while since last.
They've upped their menu. You can pretty much make a tapas meal out of the starters! Crab cakes, chiviche, pork ribs, etc. It's awesome!
But it's the schnitzel you'd come for. Still good, even after that article requesting they reduce their sizes.
We came and had a late lunch here after a medical ( long) appointment. I had a vegetarian hamburger and my husband enjoyed salt and pepper squid. Both were large servings and well prepared. A nice salad bar was also available but we did not need extra food. I have not had a vegetarian hamburger before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Friendly and welcoming environment which is nice. Nice to visit one of our old favourite spots again.
Returned to the Earl of Leicester for a meal in the bisto. The specials are always great, the food well cooked and presented. Very friendly service and on busy nights it is good to have a booking. We had the steak and thoroughly enjoyed it. This used to be one of our regular haunts so it was nice to return and find it as good as expect. There is also an upmarket restaurant next door to the bistro. (More expensive naturally)
Thanks, will be trying in the next week or so.
Still going strong as one of the better pubs in the state. They still have the enormous schnitzels that take up the whole plate. But I think it's their signature dish, so they can't really get rid of this.
Always a good place to come back. Drinks and food a plenty
Approximate cost: $avg
Would like to try one of those large schnitzels.
I can only comment on the schnitzels as I have one everytime I go here, and I only have good things to say about them. They are as big as your plate and taste great too. The best bit is all the different toppings for them which makes it seem like a different meal everytime.
The service is also good and the drinks cold. What more could you want from a pub?
It's a great hotel and many locals are regulars at the bistro.
Sounds like a great hotel, love schnitzels and I'd like to try some of the toppings you mentioned.
Sounds great, we love our schnitties.
My wife and I go here on a regular basis when we are craving a schnitzel. It is one of the very few remaining places that have a salad bar, which is fantastic. The prices are very good but the specials are always a bargain. We will keep returning for the big good quality schnitzels.
Approximate cost: $20
I luv this place it caters for everybody young and old. The menu is nice Large snitzels and always fresh with salad and chips. There is a variety on offer. Staff are always friendly. The drinks are reasonably priced. Nice modern decor. Always clean. Front bar is great for catch up drinks good atmosphere
before we moved a couple of years ago we used to eat here about once a fortnight. good place and consistent results
I enjoy the bistro eating area here. At the time we visit, the venue is very family oriented with quite a lot of seniors eating. The food is nice with a good menu and a good salad bar. Also a senior's menu available. Booking is always advisable. There is also an upmarket restaurant in the hotel which has a good reputation.
this place is not big, and does a really nice bistro meal. They serve HUGE schnitzels and that's if you order the small size!
essential to book on a busy night but a nice place to eat.
