Things went well initially but as soon as the deposit was paid the service declined significantly.

I had made decisions based on the advice of my sales consultant which ended up costing me more money to fix only to be told that I shouldn't have taken his advice. Have recently found that much of the advice given was incorrect or irrelevant.

Upon handover there are still many issues which the builder is reluctant to address.
Such as:
-Incorrect power points installed
-manhole covered in fingerprints
-brickwork is damaged, dirty and covered in mortar throughout
-deadlock doesn't align
-sliding door doesn't close

In addition to this, there are some quality issues. -The paintwork throughout the house is pretty amateur with damage just being painted over as opposed to being fixed.
-Paint overspray not cleaned up.
-The skirtings aren't very straight.
-Was left dirty inside and out.

Overall customer service isn't very good and do not expect anything after handover.

Wouldn't recommend them.

Take your money elsewhere.

Great consultant who glossed everything and then construction became a disaster from foundation where holes were made to electrical now leaving large holes the size of power points. House is now being painted and site manager etc are all ignoring our requests to have these holes fixed prior to painting. Extremely abusive painter to the point he was physical and now considering making a police report. Informed Fairmont and we were told to stay away. Now we aren't even allowed to check on the many items that need fixing. Keep making false promises and not following thru and at this stage cannot see they have any real intention of fixing the many issues. We were also threatened with legal action if we refused progress payments. This house has been a real nightmare having such a rude, abusive company who take control and ignore the owners who are paying $275,000 for an owner design, what were we thinking!! Now our house doesn't feel like a home and we are considering counting our losses and just selling it. Please be very cautious the sales people are just that sales and will make all claims and promises but in the end they can't do anything. The construction area treat you like a third class citizen with absolutely no rights!

After getting quotes from a few other builders we decided to give Fairmont a go.

Their base price for the homes isn't too bad. But if you go to the selection center and see the range of fittings you can choose from you will be disappointed.

The basins are from the 80's, very basic tile range, horrible door knobs. So by the time we upgraded everything (and we did not go top of the range) and made a few structural changes, the price rose by $130,000.

This builder is only good value when you stick to all the standard inclusions.

The customer service we received was fantastic. The salesperson went out of his way for us. But it was not the right company for us.

My brother's house completion date was extended by 3 weeks and he still had to pressure them to get it finished off as they had already overstayed the length of time their lease on their rented property was. The 1st time it rained they discovered the laundry floor was sloped the wrong way. Although there was a strip on the bottom of the outside door, the water flowed into towards their living area anf they had to mop the floor.

VERY HAPPY (with capital letters ;)
This is not the first time we go with a building company in SA, but this time we had better luck. Fairmont homes provided us with enough range to choose the exact house we wanted.
The quality of the construction is superb, and we found it was very easy to deal with Fairmont Homes. Nothing seemed to be a drama. Excellent.

Approximate cost: $195000

Whilst almost impossible to get in touch with anyone within the company, as with most builders if you hound them they will answer. We had a few issues throughout our build, but they were all rectified to our satisfaction! For the money one of the best value builders out there in SA. Comparing the build quality of our house to that of our friends who all had different builders our's rates very highly. Would recommend to anyone!

As we had seen their work on our son's new home we were happy to have them build an investment property for us. They were approachable, easy to deal with and helpful. The finish of home was very good and value for money.

Approximate cost: $158000

Absolutely agree with other reviewers about this shocking company. I am surprised that they are still in business. Such RUDE people to deal with.
This company built the home which we subsequently purchased. Nothing but problems with the quality of the work performed - politely asked them to attend to rectification of problems under the statutory warranty. Treated like idiots and had to spend a fortune on a building inspection only to have Fairmont tell us that the building consultants report was not worth the paper that it was written on. Fed up we reported this lot to Business and Consumer affairs and they basically thumbed their noses at them too. They know that they can tell you to go jump and that unless you take them to court and spend a fortune you wont get any warranty work done by them.

RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS BEFORE YOU GET DONE OVER

Thanks for providing me with that feedback. Not so sure I wish to build with them now for my next house.

We had such a horrible experience with this company. They are useless when it comes to speaking with them and finding out what happens with your building. There product are of a low quality.

We had a horrible experience with this company. They offer beautiful homes to build and have great designs but are very shocking in producing them. The prices are really high and you don't get your money value at the end of the day. The company is one of the hardest to deal with and never want to communicate on the process of the building

Approximate cost: $300,000.00
