Terrible don't buy

I did not have my fairytale experience with Fairytale boutique that is for sure!! This shop was my first stop. I didn't know procedure or process, so I took their advice as gospel. The consultant they assigned me with was not very forthcoming or smiley or even excited, she was almost lacking any customer service or excitement, she said choose 6 dresses, and don't take too long. I didn't like any, so I struggled, although she did mention the one on display to try. When I liked that dress, I asked how long can I place on hold as I wanted to shop around as this was my first stop, they said they cannot hold for even a small period of time as they don't hold and this particular dress will sell out completely and they won't be getting it again. So initially, I was forced to place a deposit. So this is my first try on a size 12 so it is a little hard to see the fit as that is not my size, so you have to try to imagine it. I then go ahead with a deposit, didn't realise the deposit was 60%, so I called my fiancé at the time to ask to put more money in our account or I will lose the chance of this dress. SO the pressure was on. I had to deposit $1600 on the spot and they also didn't tell me the extra credit card fees til after I tapped which was an extra $300. They took my measurements in the lobby rather than the fitting room. She said a size 8, but I am a 10, she said bridal dresses are different. I also asked what if it fits different, they said they do alterations but never mentioned price, although she said can be around $400 which I thought was pretty ok. It was just all rushed. They said the dress can take 9 months to receive. This is after I placed the order. I tried this on the first week on January 2025. being they rushed me, I called a few months later to check if the same dress is available in all ivory without the blush, to check if it suited better, and they said they hadn't even ordered my dress yet, so what was the hurry? I felt a little scammed already.
I at they stage feel underwhelmed, I chased up the dress around October and they said it will come in November. I finally call in November they said it will come in December, my wedding was January 2026 so I was panicking. finally they call me and expect me to drop everything on their terms for try on, I try it on, and the dress was so tight, that the seamstress said you can't gain any weight in the next 7 weeks or there is nothing they can do. It is bizarre as I was 5 kg heavier at the time of measurements so this dress size was wrong to begin with so I had to lose more weight, then after alterations, she said it was $1200 for alterations, this was disgusting, highway robbery, they sell cheaper dresses and stingy on alterations. I am incredibly appalled by this, but the problem is, your stuck and you have to pay it or you lose and there is no time to find another dress. then I said it needs more breast padding so they charged me $30 extra for the padding.
Then I said the tussle isn't holding so they charged me $70 per button so there was 3 to place it on.
I then asked can I have a final fitting after the 2nd alteration as I want to be sure the dress fits, they said NO! you pick it up and that is it, so again I am in distraught thinking they needed to alter this twice and now this is it?? I forced them to allow me to try on and still the dress wasn't right and kept falling down, then I asked why haven't. you shown me how to pin the tale up so I can show my daughter they put a button in the middle of my back to hang it, I was about to cry and she was so abrupt and said you asked for it, I said no I paid $70 x 3 buttons to do this on the bottom half or it covers the entire dress. she was so upset with me, as this treatment was expected the entire time by them.
So now I am at my wedding, dress is falling off me, and those silly little bows they put with 3 buttons, not one of them held on and it kept falling and dragging and looked so terrible in photos it was a whole bunched up mess from behind, I keep falling overt stepping on it and everyone was trying to hook it up and it kept falling so all in all I spent $4000 on something that was PRETTY PATHETIC and advise no-one to go there, their attitude stinks, their scamming alteration prices are also a scam. Terrible experience

Dont shop here unless you liek to be pressured into making a decision

My daughter had an appointment here at the Maribyrnong store. Found a dress she liked but wanted me to come and see it first before deciding.
Encouraged to put down a $100 deposit told if she changed her mind over the weekend or I didn't like it she would be refunded. She was told that if she didn't put down a deposit the dress which wasn't released officially yet would be shipped to another store.
She called them on the Monday morning to make an appointment for the Wednesday afternoon. Was told the dress wasn't going anywhere. And there was no rush to make the appointment that week.

She was honest and told them she had more appointments that next weekend.
She found her dress at a different shop.
Because of this they back pedalled and said no refund.
The shop attendant was quite rude about it.
My daughter had tried to speak to her first.
I called later to see what I could do. She told me she was the manager when I asked to speak to the manager. I have no idea if she is the manager but her lack of professionalism and the way she spoke to me did not sound like manager material.
I had a friend who over heard the phone call and said to me after if she ever spoke to a customer like that when she was a bank manager she would ahev got the sack.

I then called the other store as I was hoping the two shops were owned by the same owner. To which they are. The lady I spoke to there was lovely. She couldn't guarantee a positive outcome, however she did try.
Unfortunately we have not seen a refund of my daughters deposit.
$100 is not a lot in the grand scheme of things but on her wage it is a lot.
I'll be giving my daughter the $100 so she is not out of pocket

Future Brides DO NOT be pressured into putting down a deposit unless yiu are 100% sure you have found the gown of your dreams.
If you still want to look around then go look elsewhere. All bridal shops keep a list of the gowns you liked so when you go back they can pull up your file.

Fyi I believe this store was opened when their Moonee Ponds Stire closed. Looking at ither reviews this lady may possibly be the same one from that store.

I went to the Moonee Ponds store today. I found this staff member rude, distant and unprofessional. She hardly spoke a word until she thought she might have a sale!! Such a shame my niece doesn’t want to buy “the” dress because of this poor experience!

My daughter had Angela as her consultant and the service received throughout was impeccable. Angela suggested a dress which my daughter would never have looked out and it turned out to be the dress. She looked like a stunning princess on her wedding day and we’ve been recommending them to friends since then. Thank you for helping to make such an important day so perfect. ️

Poor service from staff. They were unwelcoming and made me feel uncomfortable in many ways. I told them I wanted a long sleeve dress & they told me it wasn't a good idea. They were pushy with trying to sell a dress and when I didnt purchase they were rude. I've never felt so uncomfortable in my life

Fairytale Bridal was a wonderful bridal store, found my wedding dress there. Sophie was absolutely wonderful and helpful. She made sure everything was done correctly and was honest with the dress choices. Staff were professional and explained everything clearly. Had a wonderful time! Highly recommended.

The dresses are decent prices, I felt a bit rushed and pushed to purchase a dress though, even though it was my first every day trying on dresses.
Was only able to try 3 dresses on in my 1 hour appointment

*for Nunawading store*
I Had made a 1 hour apt to try on wedding dresses on a Saturday, also I live 1.5hrs away meaning it was quite a trip for us. On arriving 1/2 hour early I had some time to walk around and look at dresses they had available. I had already gotten on the website and chosen out around 10 dresses I wanted to try on and wrote them down making it easy for the store assistant. 10 minutes after my apt time was scheduled to begin my assistant came over and asked how she could help today, I handed over my paper for her to screw up her face and just say "okay?". She eventually took me over to a section where the first dress was meant to be located, she literally browsed through the dresses for 5 seconds, turned to me and said "oh it's not here, are there any other dresses?" No effort in finding it at all! Too bad if that was the "one". So we went to another section and found the next dress which was a size 8 (I know I'm not a 8 but i could most certainly try it on for looks) The assistant looked me up and down and said "honey your not a size 8" at this point was so pissed off I hung it straight up. She then hurried me into the change room and told me that I could only try on 5 dresses as it was a Saturday!! Even though I had made an hour apt??! She had only found me 4 of the 10 dresses I had on my list and had no interest in looking for the others. Annoyed and upset I tried on 4 dresses all in the space of 20 minutes. I asked if she had any recommendations of dresses that may look nice on me? She left and returned with something lovely but nothing like what I had asked for! I soon found out it was a designers dress whom happened to be there that day & put it on me just so the designer could see!!! [redacted inflammatory comment]
I also enquired about the price on one of the dresses to which she turned her nose up and reluctantly gave me a number, rudely incinuating that it was far too expensive for me!! I ended up looking at my nan, sister & mum from the change room and telling them I wanted to leave immediately. On leaving I quickly returned to the smaller store [redacted alternative businesses] in Berwick whom I could not speak higher of & purchase a beautiful wedding dress from the most lovely helpful staff.
I really tossed and turned about writing this review but feel that I was so disappointed & put down by this experience I would hate for another woman to have the same service provided to them.

I am absolutely disgusted on the treatment of larger woman in this store! I would not recommend them to anyone! A walk in (a person with no appointment) was also served before me and I had an appointment. Going there ruined my beautiful day with my mum and sister

*this is for Fairytale Bridal in Nunawading

Yesterday I accompanied my friend to Fairytale Bridal who was looking for a wedding dress. Our sales assistant was extremely professional and helpful. However, I was appalled at how her colleague treated me.

My friend and I arrived early and she was trying on some dresses in the fitting room. This area had 3 chairs so I made myself comfortable in one of them. In the middle of our session, whilst I was standing up and helping my friend, this other assistant looked at me and stated, “I am going to move your belongings to the floor” and she did exactly that without waiting for any response! I was just in shock. Next, she gave away all three seats to this other party who had just arrived without asking me.

I then had to pick my belongings off the floor and awkwardly stand in the corner till the end of our session.

This other party had one bride-to-be, a middle-aged mother and I assume her two other teenage daughters/ friends who were clearly much younger than me. I did not see any reason why I was forced to give up my seat for a Caucasian family/teenager and stand in the corner, feeling like a second-rate citizen.

After explaining why I was so upset to the manager, I left the place fuming. I really do think Fairytale Bridal need to review their customer service and their racial acceptance, intentional or not.

RUDE SNOBBY SALES ASSISTANTS. Left after I asked one question and got a smart [Redacted offensive language] answer, the woman told me to go access the road to another bridal store without knowing my budget or what I was looking for because I asked if they kept a certain designer - I only asked because I had previously liked a dress by that designer. I had no idea about "cheap" designers. I ended up going elsewhere and spending $3.5k on a dress... so what a [Redacted offensive language] I must be, too povo to shop here???

I would never recommend them! Poor, Horrible and rude customer service! We got there 20 minutes before our appointment to have a quick look around the dresses and waited another 20 minutes past our scheduled appointment time without any acknowledge from any staff. When the lady finally came to see us she seemed to be in a rush and welcomed us without a smile. As we had almost an hour of waiting around we had already selected some dresses for me to try on she had rushed me into the change room to try them on. Of course not all dresses that you select to try on will be in your size some will be too small and some too big but it is their job to clip you in so you can see the way the style of the dress will look on you. First dress I tried on with no help what so ever from her she literally just threw it at me to put on myself and as I was pulling it up I was stepping on the bottom of the dress instead of helping me not step on the dress and get my feet onto the ground she started roughly trying to pull it up from behind while I was still bent over trying to get my feet on the floor she then said "NO WAY THIS DRESS IS GOING TO FIT YOU" and "DID YOU NOT CHECK THE SIZES BEFORE PICKING UP THE DRESSES" I was so appalled by what she just said that I stood there in shock! My mum heard what she had said and asked if I was okay as the lady went to go get another dress I stormed out of the dressing room and straight out the store! straight back to the first store where I had received the BEST customer service and purchased the most amazing dress!

We went here when looking for a friends wedding dress. The staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. There was a large array of stunning dresses which my lucky friend got to try on. Price wise it was on the higher size but it is definitely worth the visit from brides to be.

I found that the customer service was great when I was there looking for a dress. Unfortunately that is when the good customer service stopped. When my dress was paid for in full it was like they didn't want to help me any further which was incredibly disappointing.

Throughout the paying-off period I felt that there was no personal connection with their customers (e.g. they didn't recognise who I was despite the fact I spoke to them every other week and visited the store on numerous occasions) and they were not very helpful when I asked them their advice despite the fact that one consultant claimed to have 20 years experience. I'm sure she would have has a wealth of knowledge that she could have shared if she wanted to!

I do understand that they deal with many brides on a day to day basis however much can be done to improve on their customer service.

It seems that they have forgotten that buying a wedding dress is one of the most exciting and memorable experiences in a woman's life - if a bride receives great service it will be remembered and vice versa.

On another note the lady contracted by Fairytale Bridals to alter my dress was absolutely wonderful and must be commended. She was the one that made the whole experience enjoyable. If I was to recommend a dress making to my friends I would give them her number as she could make the exact dress you want with 10 times the customer service the bridal boutiques offer.

Very helpful ladies who all went out of their way to make me happy. They were able to help me find me the best three to try one, and I just fell in love with the best one! So much easier than place who have no idea of suiting bride's shapes and ideas to the dress. We would be happy to recommend Fairytale Bridal for lovely dresses, and experienced service. Yes, I really did look and feel like a Princess!

Thanks so much!

I went in here on a Saturday without an appointment and the ladies were happy to help me out on the spot which I thought was really nice. They were, however, a bit pushy about trying to get me to buy a dress. It was over a year until my wedding at this time but they were insisting that I needed to make a decision on the spot!
Also I don't think that it's prices are as competitive as some other Bridal shops because I called around and did find cheaper prices on the same dress at other shops.
That being said, they have a GORGEOUS collection of dresses and the shop is in an awesome location. It definitely worth having a look at.
