The food is strange but good. it seems a little processed butwhere do you begin with meat that's not meat? Everything tastes pretty good though it is exppensive and the service is average.

Approximate cost: $25

I normally avoid eating at vegetarian joints but i absolutely love yum cha so i thought id give this a try. I was very surprised by the tastiness and variety of food, i honestly was expecting it to be quite bland. Id definitely give this place a try again if i'm not in the mood for meat.

I thought that this was a fantastic restaurant. I was expecting a dull vegetarian cuisine, but was pleasantly surprised with what can be done without meat. Really creative dishes are offered with lots of meat substitute dishes. I love the self serve buffet. The ice creams are tasty as well.

My favourite purely vegetarian restaurant. Large range of different dishes. Sometime the food on the buffet could be fresher, but if you get there early its find. The food ordered from the menu is always fresh. The vegan homemade ice creams are mouth-watering with interesting and delicious flavours such as black sesame. Have taken large groups of meat eating friends and they have really liked the food

Green Gourmet Newtown is one of my all time favorites. Especially for Yum Cha. The food is fantastic quality, very fresh and vegan. It is amazing to see the care and effort put into this food that is very tangible when you eat it. These special vegan creations range from 'satay "chicken", bbq "pork" that is as good as the real thing. To green tea ice cream and a range of other vegan ice-creams... I love all this and I am not a vegan or vego so trust me, it's special. Did I mention the tea selection is also amazing? It is worth catching this place on the weekend for the yum cha, and it is also very affordable.

I was totally surprised by what can be done with Vegan food. Lots of dishes that are meat substitutes, e.g. Seafood rolls, Taro Fish sweet and sour, Hot and spicy mushroom steak.Very tasty food and reasonably priced. Desserts and ice-creams are very nice also. There is a self-service buffet bar.

I went here recently for the first time and I can't wait to go back!! It's kind of far away though, like really far, which is no good. But the food was amazing. The menu is pages and pages of fantastical sounding vegan chinese food. They are big on the meat-substitutes, by which i mean, this food could be mistaken for meat by texture and look. It's unreal. So many options, we over-ordered and couldn't eat it all. Which I felt wasteful and bad about, but I wanted to taste so many things!! The not-pork sweet and sour looked like the real deal and tasted wonderful. We also had tempura mushrooms (which included other vegetables too) and an entree sampler and some brown rice. It was quality. Service was excellent, the staff were really polite and prompt. The venue is pretty casual, they have boxes of tissues on the tables instead of serviettes, which is kind of quirky. Also, as you walk in along one wall is a buffet. On a shelf above the buffet are plates and take away containers. If you do not want to order from the unbelievably extensive menu, you can help yourself to either eat in or take away from the buffet and whatever you fill your plate or container with is charged on weight. This just seems so cool to me and I wished I lived local so I could do this all the time!! For vegans/vegetarians who don't mind food that looks like it's meat, this place is heaven. They are not licensed, so no alcohol. Which is not terrible, but worth mentioning.

The best vegan restaurant i've been to in Australia. They do yum cha, and I could sit there and eat for hours. I just LOVE this place, so so so yummy. The only thing i'm not a huge fan of is the buffet you self serve from, I've found the food on the menu is much nicer, and occasionally it's a little lukewarm. I could eat here every day though!
